Thanks so much for all that info. It was sad to post that photo for the memorial with no other information but the name. But somehow you found it and that's great. Are you related or a researcher? My hopes are that my photos will find additional information through researchers and family members for them.

I noticed you created a Find A Grave for Lola Moffitt Benschoter.

I'm trying to locate someone that may have know Ruth Knickerbocker Benschoter. Ruth was married to Leo Knickerbocker.

If you are, or if you know of someone who is, I would like to talk with them.

Ruth had a twin sister, Ruby, who is my great aunt.

Thank you

WO James Anderson "Jim" Mayne
Hi Kathy,

I was at the cemetery this afternoon and spotted the inscription on the back of his parents marker. Should I transfer him to you too?

RE: adoption
Yes I can see that from the plot & family line that she would have been married with 2 children @ the time of my grandfathers birth.
My family had discussed this too.
Being that scenario or another in which they had 2 children & it being a depression they may have chosen that they couldn't afford a 3 child.
My adopted grandparents wanted to have kids but couldn't.
Even a married women weather with her hubby knowing or not could have used her maiden name to make it less likely for ppl to find out.
But when I find the original hospital birth record I will hopefully have more information.

RE: adoption
Yes the original reply was a while bag ago. I didn't see it for some reason.
My grandfather has passed on. He is buried in Illinois.

I don't have any information besides his birth mothers name & what his given name was on the day he was born. Of course I know his birthday as well.

My grandfather was born
May 23rd 1916.

His given name was
Charles Edward Ogal.

His adopted name was
Charles Edward Rickard Jr.

I have information on the father, he was not listed.
