I hope that my entries aid you in finding your family! My PRIMARY INTENT is to get the information up from the stones & records for those that haven't found the burial spots of their loved ones and to preserve information from these stones. Please note, many are put up from cemetery records...as is. I'm aware that there are many errors in these records, but I rarely make assumptions as to proper spelling, etc. with the exception of death month which is often based on interment date. Generally speaking, I do not research each memorial.
Any photos I have posted are gifts - free for family or friends to use as you please for non-commercial purposes. I have also assumed responsibility for many memorials from inactive/deceased contributors so just because they've been transferred to me doesn't mean they are my relatives. I would be happy to transfer any of your relative's memorials I have created that are unrelated to me. I'd prefer they be with someone in their family or someone with a connection to complete a more fitting memorial!
I'm human, I make mistakes. If you find some, please use the edit button on the memorial to advise me. Kindness & patience are virtues - I am not retired and have young children, but will address emails as soon as I can. ***I cannot guarantee edits sent to me. I accept edits as long as it doesn't change information at which time I try to confirm the information before accepting.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A special THANK YOU to those who visit my family. I TRULY appreciate it - it means the world to me!:
Another GG-Grandfather William Lewis Horn found March 6, 2013 going through old funeral home records. Cemetery records were destroyed for June 1, 1914 to October, 1920. He died June 15, 1914. Go figure! :)
My GG-Grandmother Jessie Fremont Lane Nelson in January of 2014. (thanks to a FindAGrave friend Mixmastermom) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My Family Ties: Hoffman, Cain, Willy, Fischer, Werner, Horn, Newby, Schuyler, VanVechten, TenBroeck, Roosevelt, Bush, Frawley, Nelson, Hannagan, Lane, McCormick, Sassenrath ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~ My FaG Projects: ~ I'm currently working on photographing & documenting burials in (primarily) 4 Wyandotte County, KS cemeteries. ***Please note - Month is often interment month or death date may be interment date and "NOTE" is often funeral home/interment date. I am also going through old funeral home records in an effort to fill in some blanks in these old cemeteries.
*** Mount Hope - ALL memorials from cemetery records are posted. *** Quindaro - ALL memorials from cemetery records are posted. (I used a spreadsheet on this one & many duplicates were not caught) *** Woodlawn - ALL memorials from cemetery records are posted. *** Oak Grove - About 95% of memorials are posted. Please note that many of the dates appear to be off a year. Be creative in your searches with spelling as well.
I also do some work in Memorial Park, Highland Park, Chapel Hill, St John's & Mt Calvary & anywhere else in the area that the wind blows me that day. :) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "There are two lasting bequests we can leave our children. "A Genealogist must have the patience of Job; the curiosity of a cat; the stubbornness of a mule; the eyesight of an eagle; be blessed with the luck of the Irish and have the ability and stamina of a camel to go long hours without food or drink." ~ The Herald, Vol.18, No. 3 & 4; 1995
DEAR ANCESTOR Your tombstone stands among the rest; Neglected and alone. The name and date are chiseled out On polished, marbled stone. It reaches out to all who care It is too late to mourn. You did not know that I exist You died and I was born. Yet each of us are cells of you In flesh, in blood, in bone. Our blood contracts and beats a pulse Entirely not our own. Dear Ancestor, the place you filled One hundred years ago Spreads out among the ones you left Who would have loved you so. I wonder if you lived and loved, I wonder if you knew That someday I would find this spot, And come to visit you. ~ Author Unknown
RE: Matilda Jane Scott, #121389271 I tried the telephone number but it was no longer in use. Since we live close by we drove by there yesterday hoping we would find something that would indicate sections, etc. No such luck. There was a funeral going on yesterday so we pretty well stayed in the western part of the cemetery. Been trying to find a map of the cemetery showing the layout of the sections, etc. Do you know if a library, or some place like that, would have one?
Your mom and family are in our prayers. Keep looking up! Harold & Wanda
Matilda Jane Scott, #121389271 Kim, Since you made the memorial I was hoping you might have already taken a photo. I live in Overland Park and submitted a photo request but was trying to eliminate the 'go find' trip. If you don't have it then I will call the cemetery number and try to get her location. Here's hoping, thanks! Harold
George Norton Adell I want to ask if you mind transferring management of George Norton Adell's memorial to me. I submitted info for his biography previously, but I would like to update as I find more. He was my great grandfather. Thank you, Scott Adell
I wanted to let you know I uploaded photos to Karl Gonser Jr, and William & Amelia Barnard. There were two other family members buried on the plot that I created memorials for: Karl's parents, Karl Sr & Elizabeth (William & Amelia's daughter)
RE: Thomas & Patricia Carroll Kim - You're very welcome! Also wanted to let you know I came across Edward T Carroll while looking for Patricia & Thomas. Birth years could make Thomas and Edward brothers...buried one row apart. If you know of a family link, Edward can be found at 126174370. Colleen
Jack McFarland Hello! I found John (Jack)McFarland and his daughter, Susan. Susan is listed as one of his children. His wife was Gertrude (Hansen) McFarland. They also had other children: John (1953-Not sure of death date at this time) and Robert(1959-1981)
Jack was my mother's cousin. Jack sent me the picture (posted on his memorial) about 4-5 years before his death. I was able to obtain other family photos and information from him as well.
I was not able to edit/add the information about his wife, Gertrude or his other children. Please add them for me, please?
