I've been interested in genealogy for many years. After I retired in 1985, my husband and I made many trips to Virginia and Pennsylvania searching for information on our families. Now I can sit at my computer and find most of the same information; although walking through cemeteries where ancestors are buried and going through old courthouse records was worth the trips. Now that I'm 83 and can't walk as well as I used to, I'm grateful for the computer.|
My husband died in 2008 and is buried in Sunset Memorial Park in South Charleston, WV. I have been looking up obituaries on those buried in Sunset and adding their names, if they are not already listed. If I have listed anyone you are related to or want to manage, just let me know and I'll transfer the names. Just click on the Edit button.
If you see any errors I've made (fact or typos), please let me know, I will appreciate it.
Your tombstone stands among the rest;
Neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished, marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you.

Wow, that was fast! Thank you so much for transferring management of these two memorials. I will do some linking and a couple of edits. My brother-in-law will be very pleased. I appreciate this so much.
|James Osborne||Howard G Cochenour|
Hi Dolores, Thanks so much for putting all the information on Howard on here. My dad was in Howard's company (Company A, 7th Infantry) and I'm trying to document all the men in the company that were in it during the time my dad was (May 44 - Sep 45). There are 785 men who filtered through the company in those 16 months. If you have any information on Howard's military service you'd be willing to share, I would very much like to hear it. Howard, you and your family have my deep appreciation and respect.

Again...many thanks for this obituary on Sylvester C. Kuhn. Patricia Cosner, WV
