Bio and Links
Bio Photo I'm a veteran of the U.S. Army.

In my free time, I'm a military researcher / historian whose key area of interest is in the World War II and Korean War eras. However, my overall, never-ending goal is to try to acknowledge the service of all our country's warriors.

In an effort to accomplish this goal, I created the Military Hall of Honor to honor all veterans, living and deceased, and use it along with FindaGrave. Membership is free and available to all who wish to contribute military records, bios, photos, honor the military with tributes, leave remembrances, etc.

Capt Walter Lewis Clarke Find A Grave Memorial #75021389
Hello! I was wondering if you would allow me to attach (with appropriate credit given) your headstone photo from this memorial to my tree on Ancestry?

Thanks for considering my request. :)

Corp Lawrence David Kutchey 100936718
Hello. I photographed Corporal Kutchey's grave, along with those of his parents and brother. He has his quota of photographs so I can't add it. It seems that there is a duplicate photo on the memorial now, so perhaps one could be deleted. Please let me know if space clears up for a photo; otherwise I'll look into sponsoring it. Thanks for the memorial and for all the work you do to honor our veterans and those lost in service to our country. -- Ellen

Hi Charles,
Probably gave you the wrong # 141962845.....glad it was still there. Just deleted it.

Charles Keitt

In January I was in South Carolina and took photos in

Browning Branch Cemetery in Elloree SC. I created a memorial 10141962845.

Recently a member added a picture and suggested I add a note about receiving the

Purple Heart and she added a picture. I thought I should at least try to fine out

Place of birth and death and thatís when I came across your memorial. Yours is much better

but I think you have Pfc Keitt in the wrong cemetery. If youíd like you can take the headstone picture and cemetery from mine and Iíll delete my memorial if that works for you.

Montrose Graham McCormick family
Hello. I can't remember if I've written to you before, but I've been very interested in the story of this young man and his family. I first became interested in Ivan Montrose Graham, who was a military Jr. whose home of record was Hawaii, which I also have a connection to. It was through you that I learned how, after his death of influenza, in 1918, his best friend and roommate from USNA, Lynde DuPuy McCormick, married his widow, adopted his son, and raised him as his own. Today, while hunting for a site that lists Navy WWI deaths, along with causes, I searched under Ivan's name, and found this interesting entry from a book, which claims that Ivan's son's name was Ivan Montrose Graham, Jr. and that he had a son named Ivan Montrose Graham III! I can't make sense of that, as the young man was clearly known as Monty McCormick at USNA and his cenotaph gives his adoptive name. I can understand why the adoption and name change would have taken place. That would have given him the same rights as a natural born child, and also avoided the stigma the was attached to adoption at that time. Many people, back then, never told children that they were adopted, whether by one or both parents. I can't, however, figure out why this book would list him, and a son, with the name he probably would have had, had his father not died when he was a baby. I thought you might be interested, too, or maybe even have some idea of what might explain it.

I'm hoping this link will work!

Thanks for all your hard work in this very noble cause!

Charles, I was a classmate of Jim's in the band at Texas A & M. I am involved in a project of preparing a memorial book for classmates killed in Vietnam as well as having a practice room in the new Music Building dedicated to him. As you left a message on his Find a Grave site I was wondering how you knew him and what you might have to contribute to the memorial book. Also, wondering if you could get us a picture of his memorial head stone. Please contact me at: Herschel L. Sheiness, e-mail address:
