|Twenty-five years ago a friend told me she had a new hobby, genealogy, and how much fun she was having. I immediately contacted my mother who informed me that we owned six family Bibles. I have been deep into this ever since. I started with my mother's family in Loudoun County, VA. Her parents were third cousins, a fact she did not know. Of course I added my father's family, my husband's family, and both my daughter-in-law's and son-in-law's families. Then by adding wives, mothers, sisters, brothers, ancestors, descendants, I have ended up with a database of about 37,000. All are related to me or to someone I am related to. |
Most of my time has been spent in Loudoun County, Virginia. I wrote two books on Union Cemetery in Leesburg, a book on Monocacy Cemetery in Bealsville, Montgomery County, MD, Death Records of Fairfax County, VA, and co-authored books on the Death Records of Loudoun County, VA and Marriages after 1850 in Loudoun County, Va. I have also been involved in the preparation of Cemetery Books published by Thomas Balch Library. All of these books are available through Heritage Books.
I am more than happy to share any information I have. My cemetery pictures are there for anyone who needs them. They have been taken over the last 19 years. I will ask that you let me know if you are using a family picture because that means you are probably at least a cousin and I want to know you.
If you see errors, please let me know. Let's get all these people linked! But PLEASE everyone, use the Edit button on the memorial that needs changing! It takes about 2 minutes to make changes using that button. It can take 1/2 an hour or more to find the memorial you would like changed, if you don't use that button, and often I cannot be sure if I am looking at the correct person even then. In that case I may spend an hour or more looking. That takes away from someone else's time. Be fair!

I should also mention that Cornelia's marriage record states her maiden name is Cleveland.
|Laura Tibbs||Cornelia Johnson|
Can you please tell me what data you have that proves Cornelia's maiden name is Corum? I know that is her fathers last name is but all of her kids marriage records state that her maiden name is Cleveland. That is her mothers last name. I have not been able to locate any document that states her parents were married.
Thank you, Cornelia's great granddaughter-in-law, Laura
Thanks, Betty, for the transfers of Molly Cannon and Richard Stocks!

Can you please tell me your source for the date of death for Nancy Athey? I haven't been able to locate a source/death record. Am assisting a descendant of hers. Nancy's daughter's death record indicates that Nancy's maiden name was Matthews. Right now I can't locate any original source records for the marriage of George Athey and Nancy, although I did locate them on the 1860 census. However, I can't locate them on the 1870 census, although I located what appears to be their daughter Lucy living in the Loy household in Loudoun, VA (which makes me think her parents died). Any information you can provide will be most appreciated.

Do you know if the Frank Beans ( b.1874) who is buried at Ketoctin is the son of the Abner Beans who is also buried there? I have a Frank Beans in my tree, but I thought his birthdate was around 1859/1860. In a census, it shows Abner having a son called Frank, but the birthdate was c. 1860. I'm not having any luck finding any other Franks. I do know my Frank was married to an Ella Howell, but they divorced and she moved to WV with her adult son Luther.
Can't find a death certificate or marriage license for Frank. Loudoun County has a newspaper index online. It doesnt list the actual newspaper clippings, just headlines. I only found one mention in the clippings of a Frank Beans (the one here in Ketoctic). So I am just wondering if this Frank and my Frank are the same person.

Wow! Thanks for all your work. I have been linking some of James C Adams/Sarah A Gains and some of their 10 kids: 73920685/73920632. I have linked Fancy 'Fanny' Lee Adams, Scott N Adams and you had linked Benjamin F Adams. There are 7 more kids to link. I will review your work to find the remainder of the kids/spouses and kids.
What a blessing you are to the 40,000 people you have documented in the cemetery records. I know that takes so much time. Thank You for making our families available online. My job seems to be taking your info and others and linking these family members together, so I only have a few Memorials.
The Adams family are Extended, EXTENDED family through many marriages. I just passed 66,400 linked family members. I add all my data to FamilySearch.org FamilyTree so our families will always have the info for FREE.
Thank you for all your work! You have made/are making such a difference to so many families.
