Mad Anthony Wayne
I just read the bio for Anthony Wayne, and I was concerned about the description of the relocation of his bones. My research showed that his son sent one of his men to retrieve his father's body, and the boiling of the body was done under the direction of Wayne's personal physician, who had Ben sent for to treat him for what caused his death (I am sorry, I cannot remember the disease). The bones were placed on the short buggy and many were lost in the return journey. In short, they bounced off and we're lost. His son, on learning of the abuse of his father's body, was furious.
Also, the reason the son wanted to bring his father's body home was because his sister was very ill, knew she was dying, and requested that her brother bring
their father home so she could be buried next to him.
Please respond to me at

Thank you so much for your work. It was so thrilling to find this information on my 6th great grandfather. Words can not express the joy I feel that you are sharing their lives with their descendants! Bless you.

Thanks, Eddie

RE: Ralph Bates
Not at all. Glad to be of assistance. Saw him in 'Absent Friends', a play by Alan Ayckbourn at The Grand Theatre in Leeds in 1988. Tragic loss
