|I've written and published two family history books and the history of Berryton for its 1986 Centennial. |
I have just finished going through three books about Topekans in 1905, 1934 and 1956 for the second time. They were WHO'S WHO and BUILDERS OF TOPEKA. I added a lot more information for tombstones, but there are still many biographies that need to be added, once their tombstones are copied. I'll put the books away for another year and go back and try to find some more.
About 25 years ago, the local historical society put all the Shawnee County marriage applications up to 1913 on microfilm. They discarded the originals and allowed persons to take names of those they recognized. I gave my old mailman about 50 and he delivered them to people in our township. I have given away hundreds of them. I still had some left over, so I put them on FAG.

That would be awesome! Society hours are 1:00-4:00 pm Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, & Saturday.
That is wonderful you found a home for many applications but for those you wish to entrust to us we would be most appreciative.

Just thought you'd like to know that the Topeka Genealogical Society has those original marriage applications on file in their library. Those we are indexing are from about 1896-1912. We don't have all of them, but should you still have some originals and want to preserve we would be more than happy to add them to our current library files.
By the way, I added the maiden name to Zeda Humbert as you requested. Thank you!

Yes, we did have this wrong in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The book that Topeka Genealogical society is wrong. It has both Barbee and Marbee listed as being in Pleasant Hill. Thank you for correcting this. Nancy

Thank you for adding the Marriage license. I made a copy for myself. How are you related?
did you know you can add dates and name changes to the memorial by yourself?
click on the edit tab and then read the list..

WOW! Just checked in on this page and discovered this marriage affadavit, in addition to the Chilson-Hyett affadavit.
Many, many thanks for the silent help with one of my "brick wall" families! Now I'll have to check out all of my Chilsons in Kansas to see if you have delivered more pleasant surprises!
Thank you. Your efforts make a difference!

Many, many thanks for adding the marriage application to Warren's memorial! This Chilson family has been elusive (an understatement), so every bit of info about them is precious!!

Joanie, I added the cemetery info for Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" McElroy Buckner ---- and all of her relatives buried in Mount Hope. Eventually I'll get the rest of the pages updated that you have added marriage certificates to. Thanks so much for all your work.

Never mind... did a search myself, and found that it was indeed in error. Thanks again for the edits!
