Bio

Now that I am retired, I have more time to devote to things I have always wanted to do. My greatest joy, without any doubt, is spending time with my grand children. They can turn any day into a celebration. Listening to them talk is like having my ear up to a window in heaven and getting to hear what is going on in that city of bliss and hope.

I am a Viet Nam veteran, a former employee of Delta Air Lines, and a retired member of the S.C. United Methodist Church.

As for cemeteries, they have always offered a sense of solitude, even solace. In theological terms, I would say cemeteries offer "centering" and "grounding." (no pun intended with the latter term) Having conducted many funerals over the course of my career, I witnessed the deepest pain that humankind could ever experience. On the other hand, having used cemeteries numerous times for Easter Sunrise Services, they have provided vivid reassurances of the promised resurrection at our Lord's Second Coming.

Many sermon illustrations can be found by walking through a cemetery and reading the head stones, or reflecting upon the dates people died. Historical periods such as wars, natural disasters, and pandemic outbreaks of diseases can be observed.

I feel a deep sense of gratitude for all who take time to add to this valuable website. If I can be of help to any one, please do not hesitate to ask.
