|I am a North Londoner of Irish Protestant and Anglo-Indian (or, to be more accurate, Hiberno-Caledonian-Anglo-Dutch-Huguenot-Indian) parentage. I was trained as a mathematician but, at the moment, am working only part-time. I have travelled a lot; not only around the British Isles, but also throughout: Europe; Africa; America (North only; I have yet to cross the Rio Grande, never mind the Panama Canal, although I have been to the States quite a few times and once ventured across the Forty-Ninth Parallel for a month, and should like to go back to Canada again, sometime); Asia; and Australia. Unfortunately, most of those voyages were undertaken before the invention of the digital camera, so I can't show you too many of the graves I saw when I was abroad. When I am not travelling or working, or painting or acting, I am learning to play the piano and various woodwind instruments. I try to keep my body fit with cycling and swimming and karate, as well as by never drinking alcohol or coffee, or smoking, or eating flesh, or fowl, or fish, and I try to keep my mind fit with chess and crosswords and reading.|
Please note; I am forever running around this world (as Jefferson Airplane once sang), and seldom check the computer when I am on my wanderings; but, if you write to me, I shall make sure that I answer on my return.

I have the spelling of your name right this time - typical me to get it wrong.
Thanks so much for your kind offer. There are photos of graves that I am wanting in the mother country. Do you go anywhere near Norfolk and Lincolnshire? If you do, will get back to you.
I signed a petition, asking Ancestry to give us a choice to either stay with Classic or switch to their new-look. There were thousands of their members who signed it, but they chose to ignore us. They lost many of their subscribers because of it. I cancelled my sub the day they switched me over.
To get started on your family history, Ancestry could be a help re their many world-wide records.
But just remember, you will have no control of your family tree and Ancestry can change it at will. They are not to be trusted.
Well enough of my rantings.

G'day Iain: World traveler you sound! Awesome Find A Grave is for connecting people and gathering facts as every little bit does count. States cremation, it's always tough to sometimes find the answers, but I keep digging, amazing what you find, so perhaps one day we can update mother & son of the Bowie clan!
Great work, keep up the adventures and memories, so glad to consider you in this wonderful circle of life to honour our pasts!
|Joseph Izzio||photo for Louis Izzio|
I am writing for my husband, Joseph Izzio. We would like to thank you very much for sending the photos of the graveside plaques of Joe's father, Louis Izzio, who was killed in Kohima.
It is impossible for us to contemplate ever going to Kohima so we are thrilled to have the photo of his grave plaque and the Royal Berkshire plaque. We will shortly be adding some photos and documents to his memorial site, such as marriage cert., photos of Louis in his uniform and with his wife. We have none of him with my husband Joe, so I'll post one of our family too, along with Louis' grandchildren and great grandchildren. They are all wonderful people and Louis would be so proud to know that he was the start of a family of kind, good looking and productive citizens of Canada.

Thank you very much for getting the photos of his headstone for me. It's very much appreciated.

Thank you so much for Simon's grave photos in the Kohima War Cemetery in India. Due to the location I have had a open request for years with little hope it would be fulfilled. My wife and With much appreciation
Hi Iain Im going to delete my memorial for Colonel Neil Alexander Baillie-Hamilton,Ive found a bit more information out about him which Ive sent as a edit to yourself. I found his surname was also Buchanan-Baillie-Hamilton, but as I expect with most surnames that have been hyphonated that have been changed to suit the situation.

Please do not laugh too hard when I tell you I found the RFA site because I watched the evening news and saw our Prime Minister walk through a cemetery in Hong Kong and I was able to read 2 of the grave markers he stood by, then researched them and found one gent was RFA!
Odd how one thing leads to another!
Thanks for the offer of photos. All my kin folk are Co Durham so not very handy!
