"The world's greatest tragedy/ Souls who are not remembered/ Cannot survive"
--Kevin Gregory Churko & Dan J. Donegan ("Hold on to Memories")

This site's purpose is to remember those who lived before us.

I have been working on my family's genealogy since a history teacher assigned a project when I was a high school sophomore. Today I focus on helping people with Sawyer County (Wisconsin) area research, plus compiling information on Polish Americans in Wisconsin. Please contact me if you need assistance with northern Wisconsin genealogy or Wisconsin Polonia.

I have walked and taken notes at many area cemeteries. (Thank you to my nephew JP for walking some with me.) These were tombstone transcriptions only and I read them the best I could. I'm now adding to these entries as well as adding unmarked graves using information from the Sawyer County newspaper archives. Please contact me if you need an obit look-up in the Sawyer County Record newspaper based in Hayward. You may contact the Sawyer County Gazette newspaper based in Winter directly by writing to [email protected]

THIS INFORMATION IS FREE FOR YOU TO USE. I enjoyed doing the research and uploading this data, so I hope it helps other genealogists. **If you want a management transfer, just send me a request using the edit button. I'm happy to transfer memorials to those who will value and maintain them.

Additional information:
***Restoration of the cross at the Winter Cemetery is now complete (Sawyer County Gazette 8/4/2010). Anyone who would like to contribute to the ongoing restoration of the cemetery can contact Winter Cemetery Assoc., PO Box 277, Winter, WI 54896.

****St. Ignatius Church, affiliated with the New Post Cemetery, is in desperate need of renovation. The estimated total cost of repairs is $60,000. Fundraising has begun, with private donations totaling $3,000 so far.
More information can be obtained from Father Hoepfl, who serves a three-point parish including St. Francis Solanus at Reserve, St. Phillip's in Stone Lake and St. Ignatius in New Post.
The mailing address is St. Francis Rectory, 13891 W Mission Road, Stone Lake, WI 54876.
