All photos of graves that I have posted were taken by me and may be copied freely and posted on other websites. There is no need to credit me or identify me when they are so used and no need to request permission beforehand. I won't be annoyed if you do anyway, but it really isn't necessary for the grave photos taken by me. Most photos of persons that I have posted were not taken by me. Please check the photo caption to determine the source (most often an obituary).

The photos were taken with a Sony Cybershot camera, which takes 4896x3672 (18M-pixel) images. The original JPG files are 6-7 MB in size. I then use GIMP, an open source image processing program that can be downloaded for free from, to rotate, crop and rescale the images. Usually I set the horizontal resolution to 1200 pixels, sometimes up to 1600 for panoramic scenes. I use a compression "quality" setting of 50 to 70, most often 60 to 65. The resulting picture files are usually 250 to 300 kB, with some up to 400 kB. Limiting the file size to that range allows snappy downloads when opening the image at full resolution.

Here is what should have been done according to Find A Grave rules...

If you find a memorial has been added but has incomplete or incorrect information, instead of creating a duplicate memorial use the tools provided to submit corrections, additions or a transfer request via the "Suggest A Correction" link under the 'Edit' tab on the upper right of the memorial. Never deliberately create a duplicate memorial.

Handlin duplicate
Hi Eric, thanks for notifying Travelingal and me about the duplicates of George Handlin's memorial. I have sent a request to her to resolve this according to the F.a.G. guidelines, which give "burial unknown" memorials only 30 days to maintain their "First" status, and if they remain "burial unknown" and a memorial is established later from the ground up - that is from an actual burial site - then it has priority over the B.U. and it is the B.U. memorial that must come down. I realize that F.a.G. guidelines are just that - guidelines, not rules - and would happily take mine down except that mine has photos and more data already on, and the main photo was not taken by me, so I can't just move it to hers. We'll see how she responds. Thanks.

Mine was created in 2007 and the other one in 2009...making THAT one the dupe. I have contacted that Contributor. Thanks.

listing for John Bonner
I requested a change that was rejected because the data didn't agree?
John Boner ( note spelling) was the son of Patrick and Bridget "n"....even the pronunciation seems to require 2.

This is the family of my great great grandfather.

Robert Glennon
Robert Glennan was my grandmother's uncle. He was a riverboat pilot on the Chester and Delaware rivers. He was an inmate at the Little Sisters of the Poor in Wilmington, DE from before 1930. The Glennan name has been spelled different ways. My grandmother lost her parents at age 12. She and her sisters lived with aunts and uncles on their mother's side. This part of the family spells the name Glenan. The rest of her father's family appear to spell as Glennan. That is why I tried to change Robert's name. Putting an 'o' was probably a transcription error.
I have encountered this problem with other relatives from time to time.
