I have been interested in genealogy for the last 30 years or so and have found gravestone and memorial inscriptions to be a valuable source of information. Many a puzzle has been solved after finding the last resting place.

Unfortunately, a lasting resting place is only temporary in so many cases. The ability to visit the gravesites of past generations is being eroded, not only by time, but by the active 'renewal' of so many cemeteries. Often these precious memorials are either relocated to somewhere remote to the actual burial place or they are completely destroyed!

I feel a sense of urgency to create memorials that will endure in the form of virtual cemeteries and was so pleased to find a site such as this.

I am very happy for any of my photos to be used elsewhere but I would like them to be correctly referenced. I am also happy to receive edit suggestions, but would be very grateful if I could be told the source of the suggestions as so many user contribution sites are not entirely correct.
