I am a native of Savannah, Georgia, and retired from the Savannah Police Dept. I now live in Metter, Georgia. I have always loved history and I like to travel and visit the gravesites of famous people. I also like to visit old battlefields and national monuments.
RE: Laura Newman I was looking for some info on the death of Laura Newman on New Years Eve of 1984/1985. She was a really good friend of mind and was only 14 when raped and murdered..and no one has been arrested...was looking for so news articles from back then ..Any help would be nice.. Thanks
Thank you!! I truly appreciate you heading out to Lake Cemetery to document my great-great grandmother's grave.... hope you have a good summer and eat some BBQ for me! (I live in CA now and there is NO good BBQ out here....)
Laura I was looking for a relatives memorial on here and ended up coming across Laura Newman. I was a baby when this happened. Apparently today would of been her 38th birthday. Where in Savannah did this happen? Ofcourse there is nothing on this online because of the time frame of it.
China Smith/Dan Duryea Larry, I read your note after posting my own about my memory of Dan Duryea as "China Smith" on tv in the 1950's. (I actually was reminded of this as I drove him and passed a Chinese guy driving an SUV...It reminded me of Duryea!) I note that you're from Savannah...my wife and I spent a week there at the B&B off I think it was Lafayette Square (?) in the historic district. Loved it and look forward to returning! We have walked and took pictures of Holly Grove Cemetery, Anacoco, Louisiana. an did not find Mrs. Carver there. Maybe this is the Mrs. Carver you have posted:

Berry Chavis Larry, Could you please tell me who his parents were? One of my aunts remembers an Uncle Berry coming to visit but she doesn't know who his parents were. My cousin and I are researching the family history and some people we have talked to seem to think Berry belonged to Desana Chavis (daughter of Philip and Ann Chavis) but we have not found any proof. Can you help?
