I would like to ask if you would take a moment to place a flower at my dad's memorial, Gene H. Barnes (1928-2007) at Wichita Park Cemetery, Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas? Many thanks to those who have.
At one time or another, we have all looked at a cemetery and felt that the people buried there are not only long gone, they're also long forgotten. And if it happens to be our relatives or friends it can leave an especially empty feeling. But, Findagrave empowers us to put an end to those concerns. Therefore, I now view cemeteries as a place where people can be remembered and their stories saved and shared rather than lost.
Just one of the many lives that sticks with me is that of Daniel Cason, former slave and Union Civil War soldier who died in Newton, Kansas in 1911 at the age of 67. What incredible obstacles some have been forced to overcome.
Within most people, there is a basic desire to learn the events of their family's history. The fortunate ones get to experience those moments of discovery. As Gordon Lightfoot wrote, "to know the wherefore and the why."

I've been looking for info about these two sisters this morning, Agnes #97462668 and Marie #93734461, and found this:
There are some Riddles buried in Lyon County and I was trying to link them, including Samuel # 68603383, the son of Matthew.

Hi Larry: I am researching this family line for a friend of my mother-in-laws. I will let you know what I run across and share whatever info I can dig up.
Also....your name is sooo familiar! I think I may have run into you on Find A Grave with memorials in southern Kansas.
|Brenda (Pierson) David||RE: Joseph and Rebecca Lanning|
Thanks very much. I have Ethel Albin's books - both the Descendants...and the Lanning Letters. They are treasures! Thanks for your part in working with her on the Barnes line.
My connection to Joseph Leander Lanning is his brother, John Riley Lanning. He's my 2nd G-Grandfather. Thanks again!

I feel bad because I haven't been able to do anymore for people with their request in the last few months due to health issues. Hoping to get back at it in a month or two. It's nice to know that there is still a lot of good people around in this world isn't it.....
