I have been interested in genealogy research for over 15 years. I enjoy taking photos and adding the information to this site in hope that it will help someone researching their family. I especially enjoy filling volunteer photo requests because it combines my love of photography, genealogy and volunteerism. If you would prefer I remove information on a family member please let me know and I will delete it. If you see any mistakes or have additions to my postings, please let me know and I'll make corrections. |
Tip: Please include the gravesite location when requesting a photo. Most cemeteries only give out gravesite information to relatives. This can be done by calling the cemeteries directly.

|Erin ||RE: Transcriptions?|
A transcription was made of the cemetery in 1917. My 11th great grandfather is presumed buried there Joris Jansen Rapalje, though he doesn't have a marker. It turns out there are more burials by far than markers. I discovered the 1917 transcription last week and spent the weekend adding the remaining 287 names to find a grave, as well as updating memorials with what information I had and calculating birth dates. With the deterioration of many of the stones now unreadable, the record taken nearly 100 years ago should be preserved. Thanks for adding memorials and photos! It makes such a huge difference for those of use seeking information so far away, I am in Oregon. Hopefully you or other volunteers will find the time to full photograph the cemetery and pictorially preserve what is left for the future generations.:-)

Dr Reese was my 4th great Uncle
|Isèle||Jeremiah G. Hamilton|
I am a descendant of Jeremiah G. Hamilton. He and his wife Eliza Jane Morris had nine children, the first one when she was 14 years old. Here is the list of the family members who are buried with them in Greenwood cemetery in Brooklyn:
Miranda (1835-1895), Evelina (1842-1927),Theodore 1850-1911, Josephine (1854-1926) and Walter 1854-1913, Cora (1855-1855) and Jane (1855-1857), and Camilla (1857-1862).
Adelaide (1847-1918) is not buried with them.
Eliza Jane's mother, Margaret Morris (1793-1868) and her brother George H. Morris (1820-1873) rest with them too.
I doubt that the picture you have put next to Jeremiah G. Hamilton is a picture of him.Would you give me your source so I could verify?

|orleans||hi BK, i have a question|
i made a photo request for a memorial page you put up for Berinthia "Berry" Berenson Perkins (Find A Grave Memorial# 76415541)but there seems to be a problem with it. here is what i got in an email from someone who tried to locate this:
"There is no monument or cenotaph to the 9/11 victims in Green-Wood. Some identified remains were buried in marked graves by families or by the City, and those individuals are listed in the cemetery's online burial list. But there is no cenotaph memorializing unidentified remains.
"Due to this problem, we believe that this photo request can not be fulfilled. As a result, we are removing it. If you can fix the problems that were reported and believe a photo can be acquired, please feel free to make a new request.
"Link to memorial page for Berinthia Perkins: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=76415541"
so i am wondering if you actually saw some sort of gravesite for her or was it a 9/11 memorial? thanks. orleans.

|sgrove777||Towt photo from Green-Wood|
Nice picture you attached to Louis W Towt 39767115. Could you please add the same photo to his wife, Helen J (Adams) Towt 57430301? Thank you very much -- I really appreciate all your contributions to the site!
All the best,
|Susan Beyer||Joseph Doelger|
Thank you for the additional information on Joseph Doelger. I have added it to his memorial.
|GravRidr||RE: Rider family|
Sorry, I don't remember seeing John and Nellie's gravestones there; I'm fairly certain they weren't in the same plot with the four Riders I photographed (unless they're in unmarked graves). It's a HUGE cemetery and I spent a couple hours walking the rows until I found the graves I was hunting for my own research. I'm so glad I happened to find yours along the way (and that they were in the shade)!

|Marie Hayes||Julia E. Woodhull|
Thanks so much for the photo of her headstone. It was helpful in identifying her father, William Woodhull!
