Fallen Graver

Sadly, Texas Genealogy Bug has passed away. Please consider visiting their Find a Grave memorial page and leaving some virtual flowers. Their enthusiasm for cemeteries and willingness to help future generations lives on through their contributions to Find a Grave.

Bio

I have been doing genealogy for over 40 years. My Mom got me interested in researching our family when I was 18. I now maintain the Henderson County TXGenWeb site: www.usgenwebsites.org/TXHenderson/index.htm.
I am a member of the Henderson County Historical Commission, TX A.G.O. (Athens Genealogical Org.), Sarah Maples Chapter of the NSDAR and The Confederate Rose Texas Chapter of the UDC - United Daughters of the Confederacy. I also help out with the Sons of Confederate Veterans.

I like to help out researchers and by adding other names maybe someday someone will add my allusive ancestors.

Go to my Dad's memorial Ray Shumate and leave a flower, he loved motorcycles, airplanes and old cars!!

Transfer requests should only be for DIRECT relatives within four generations. This would be your spouse, children, parents, siblings, grandparents, great-grandparents, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. When requesting a transfer, please state your relationship to the individual.

Any NON-DIRECT relatives (aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, etc) are not required to be transferred. For these extended family members, you can create and add them to your Virtual Cemeteries.

The Genealogists Psalm
Genealogy is my pastime, I shall not stray.
It Maketh me lie down and examine half-buried tombstones. It Leadeth me into still courthouses;
It restoreth my ancestral knowledge.
It leadeth me in paths of census records and ship's passenger lists for my surname's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the shadows of research libraries and microfilm readers,
I shall fear no discourgement.
For a strong urge is within me;
The curiosity and motivation they comforteth me.
It annointeht my head with burning mid-night oil; My family group sheets runneth over.
Surely birth, marriage, and death dates shall follow me all the days of my life;
And I shall dwell in the house of a family history seeker forever.
