I am a North Londoner of Irish Protestant and Anglo-Indian (or, to be more accurate, Hiberno-Caledonian-Anglo-Dutch-Huguenot-Indian) parentage. I was trained as a mathematician but, at the moment, am working only part-time. I have travelled a lot; not only around the British Isles, but also throughout: Europe; Africa; America (North only; I have yet to cross the Rio Grande, never mind the Panama Canal, although I did, once, venture across the Forty-Ninth Parallel for a month, and should like to go back to Canada again, sometime); Asia; and Australia. Unfortunately, most of those voyages were undertaken before the invention of the digital camera, so I can't show you too many of the graves I saw when I was abroad. When I am not travelling or working, or painting or acting, I am learning to play the piano and various woodwind instruments. I try to keep my body fit with cycling and swimming and karate, as well as by never drinking alcohol, or smoking, or eating flesh, or fowl, or fish, and I try to keep my mind fit with chess and crosswords and reading.

Please note; I am forever running around this world (as Jefferson Airplane once sang), and seldom check the computer when I am on my wanderings; but, if you write to me, I shall make sure that I answer on my return.

I've had you and your travels on my mind recently. In reading over your last message, you mentioned requesting "famous" memorials to parents. I also had thought of sending some of those requests. Turns out, Findagrave has a POLICY against linking "famous" unless their parents/sibs are also famous. I guess they call themselves protecting privacy/preventing stalking activity. Whatever. If most or all have left this mortal coil, I don't see the point. Irritating. I just start in another direction.

Did I see your name on Wikipedia? I mean as an editor. I have little doubt you are mentioned as a musician. I was looking at some contributor pages, and wondered if I might be seeing your handiwork. The internet is so vast, and yet, stranger things have happened. We [human beings] most of us travel in certain circles, and somehow seem to contact the same people in different contexts. Or not.

Thanks very much for these listings and the gravestone picture. I've now linked them to one of their daughters, Sarah.

Thank you Iain

Lovely clear pictures, it looks like an unusual layout of graves in the cemetery

Pvt. Leroy McKinley

In searching on Ancestry for more info on my uncle Leroy McKinley I found your site here. Could you give me more info if known. He was killed in Metz Germany during the war. Did they ship body there to be buried? Is there a pic of grave? As far as I know, there was a body shipped home later in a few years and he was buried.

Harry Dardio
Hello from Harry Dardio

Hello my name is Harry Dardio. I just read the find a grave you wrote about J. Bruce Ismay. You are wrong on one thing. J. Bruce Ismay didn't own the Titanic, J.P. Morgan owned the Titanic. J.P.Morgan paid $7.5 million dollars to have the Titanic built so he owned the Titanic. Please correct your find a grave on J. Bruce Ismay and state the correct statement that J.P. Morgan owned the Titanic.

Thank you so much for taking the picture of my grandfather's grave. My family have been trying to source out about him for years and to see this I know would have made their day.
