My home is circa 1784. Its situation is such that it fell in the line of battle during the conflict between the States. When my father died, I was too early at the cemetery for the appointment concerning the necessary arrangements. To pass the time I paid a visit to the antique shop close by. Displayed there was a book which possessed a title that gave me the idea that my home may be mentioned within. Upon opening it, the pages fell directly to a description and photograph of my old place. It was not intended for the purpose, but the volume became a much worn field guide as I sought to visit and photograph other ante-bellum homes in the vicinity. I pursued that objective with interest and vigor. This caused me to notice the old churches en route and I began to photograph them. Behind the churches were cemeteries. Cemeteries that I found to be serene and sublime, full of lore. In turn they led me here and I stayed.|

Thank you so much for the transfer of my Great-Great Grandfather. He died for the cause, and will always be honored as a Confederate Veteran.

No hard feelings or misgivings at all. I appreciate all that you are doing for Find A Grave! I just wanted to be sure the memorial was correct. I understand there was a photo of him during a dedication in Georgia, when they moved his remains from Virginia to Georgia. I would love to get my hands on that photo!
Thanks for all you have done and for all you will be doing in the future on Find A Grave!

You added a photo to PVT Overby's memorial and I rec'd an email from someone who thinks the uniform is from the 1880's, before PVT Overby was killed. It also looks like an officer's uniform.
May I ask where you got the photo from so I can do a little more research to validate it?
I look forward to your reply.
Thank you so much for your time and MANY contributions to Find A Grave! :)

Hi, George. I was at Hollywood today visiting g-grandad's grave, and snapped a few other pix, just in case they weren't entered here. I noticed that you and someone else have this Jones entered, with different dates. It looks to me like 2005. Do you have any idea what the little statue is about? It's fascinating. I can't tell what he is holding.
