re: secor/diltz cemetery Thanks for responding.Through a little leg work I discovered that the property is owned by Orange & Rockland, the County Utilities Company. I went down there seeking permission but was denied. They said they would come down to clean up the area. I would still like to restore the headstone closest to the road (Eliza). It appears someone restored the headstone of James and Fannie at some point. I guess they didn't ask! Anyway, thanks again and I will check out the area near Camp Ramaquois. Rei.
Secor/Herring Diltz Rd. Cemetery Hi Rob F; I recently moved into a home on Diltz Road in Pomona, N.Y. and while taking a walk noticed the headstones to the side of the road. Through a little google research I found the pictures that you have posted. My question is do you know who the responsible parties/owners of this burial ground are? The area is overgrown and in general disrepair. The headstones are in need of care and restoration. I would like to help in this endevour ,but would first seek permission. If you could provide that information, or suggest how to find out, I would appreciate it. Thank you, Rei
William Twigg & Sailors' Snug Harbor I noticed that you had created a nice memorial for William Twigg, who is interred at the Sailors' Snug Harbor Cemetery. Are you a descendant of William? I'm also a descendant of a mariner who resided at Sailors' Snug Harbor and is interred at the SSH Cemetery. If you are interested in more information about recent efforts regarding the status of SSH Cemetery and the SSH Records, you can contact me at the email address listed on my member name profile.
Edward Becraft Rob--I remember that you asked if I had come across any Becrafts from the Johnsontown/Sloatsburg area. The other day, my sister was looking thru some old boxes of paperwork that belonged to my mother. In is, she found a photo of a little boy—Edward Becraft. If you would like a copy of the photo, please email.
