Bio Photo I love researching cemeteries and strive for accuracy. If you see an error or have additional info you want added, do not hesitate to contact me through Suggest A Correction (not through Messages or E-mail) and I'll be more than happy to make the changes. (Note: Suggest A Correction is accessible through the Edit tab.)

Note that Find A Grave, though a valuable resource for genealogists, is not primarily a genealogical website. Certain highly detailed genealogical data (e.g. census transcriptions) is more suited for sites like Rootsweb.

Some people I have entered are my relatives; most are not. In documenting graves, I contribute to this site's growth and completeness. My goal is often to photograph an entire cemetery, but in large cemeteries this can be a daunting task; in such cases I just randomly photograph markers that catch my eye.

Some have asked why I am doing this. I'm doing this to honor the memories of the dearly departed, to give relatives who live far away the chance to visit the graves of their loved ones online when they can't do so in person, and to assist genealogists by providing information unavailable elsewhere. No disrespect is intended; indeed, I enter the data and post the photos with only the most respectful and honorable of motives.

I live in Taiwan and often travel to places like Hong Kong, Thailand and Malaysia to photograph cemeteries.

To protect the privacy of the living, I do not input pre-need graves, and I remove the names of the living from obituary information I post.

In general, if the stone does not show a birthdate, but instead an age, I do not calculate the birthdate from the age due to varying methods of calculations used, instead leaving the birthdate field blank. I make exceptions for my own direct ancestors and those for whom I can find reliable documentation. I can't stress this enough: If you wish me to add a birthdate to a headstone with only a death date and an age, please tell me HOW YOU KNOW the person's birthdate. Otherwise I will SUMMARILY IGNORE that request! Plus, I can't make links to children or siblings; only to spouses and parents. Such requests WILL BE IGNORED.

And when providing me with cities or towns of birth and/or death in the US, please tell me the county. Thank you!

As for transferring "ownership" of memorials, I am more than happy to do so if you are a relative. But please make the requests reasonable, rather than saying something like "Give me all your Smiths." This is Find A Grave, not Go Fish! :)

Enjoy your graving!

Thomas Edward Houston
I believe you have the wrong parents attached to Thomas buried in the Benville Cem in Buckhorn, Brown co. Ill. His father is not William, but Isaac

Grave marker photos
I wanted to ask your permission to use your grave marker photos, with credit to you for family records. This will not be published for any profit, but the photos would be added to private records that are distributed amongst family. Publically, they will stay just where you uploaded them on findagrave.

George Rice Memorial
I have posted a general picture of Richmond Cemetery in response to your request for a tombstone photo. Three surveys of the cemetery have been completed in the past and none found a tombstone for George Rice. I also checked the Ray County tombstone records and he was not listed.

I am off to Taipei in November and saw that you had made a sweep there in 2005. Is there any place you missed you can direct me to? An article on Ta Tamsui/Danshui Foreign Cemetery, says there are 170 buried there. Are you confident you photographed all the existing stones? Thanks for paving the way! -Rebecca

Iola Hedrick in Cooperstown, Illinois
Hi again, Chris. You have two women in the Cooperstown, Brown County, Illlnois cemetery who are named Iola Hedrick. One is the daughter of David and Susannah Hedrick, and wife of Caleb Cox, and the other is the wife of CA Hedrick, who I assume had a different maiden name. Are these really two different women?

The LDS Family Tree has information for both combined under the daughter of David and Susannah. If they were two women, I'd like to straighten it out.

Find A Grave Memorial# 10996325
I am the g-niece of Ada Adela Hoisington Combs and I do a one-name study of the Hoisington surname. I would be happy to take responsibility for Aunt Ada's memorial.

Ripley Cemetery - Logsdon Family
While taking my time and going through the Ripley Cemetery, I was struck about how this family was not tied together. I knew them pretty well and dated one of the sons for 7 years. So, here goes.

Father: John (J.Teddy) Logsdon #11217199
Mother: Mary A. (Friday)Logsdon #10450937 - Her Mother was Della Friday

Children: Erwin E Logsdon # 13957292
Edwin 'Eldon'Logsdon #26660059 - has duplicate
# 13936929 Think this is because of 2 stones
Shirley Ann Dixon Logsdon # 26727660
William Burns Logsdon # 13952722
Robert 'Bob' L Logsdon # 13957277
Norlyn 'Gene' Logsdon # 10450955
James W. Logsdon Infant died 1937 #10450952

Note: The youngest only living child is:
Sandra M. Logsdon (Alden W. Wilkin Jr # 27084579)

I feel this family should be tied together, but I don't want my name to enter into it. Thanks Chris
