I am 67 and retired from prison service administration. My interests are reading - history, biography, New Age, travel, novels - football (both soccer and rugby ), museums, galleries, travel when I can afford it and genealogy which I find absolutely absorbing, and I have been fortunate to find my grand uncle John Roberts' family in Wisner, Cuming County, Nebraska and most of his descendants, and received clear photos from Findagrave.com of John and wife Annie's grave as well their children artillery veteran Walter John Roberts and little Adeline who died at just 8 years of age, which brings us all closer despite the long distance. My thanks and appreciation to the wonderful photo volunteer "hammered13" for her time and generous response. My current search is for John's brother David, who emigrated in March 1906. My thanks also to the wonderful people that visit my mother Mair's memorial like Purple Lady despite my being away from here for most of the time. Remarkable.
RE: Monday 6 April. Your animal activities also sounds like me & my oldest son who adopted everything he came across, at an early age & I fell right into it with pleasure. Included 1 small snake [ugh on that] that got loose in the house & we never did find it. Hermit crabs [loved watching them change their shells], outside doves, fish [mostly fancy guppies] & rabbits.
Of course, most of the care-taking fell upon me, but I didn't mind. However, only had 1 'pure black' cat, which was a stray & he would come & stay about 2 weeks, leave, come back for another 2 weeks & that routine lasted for a couple of years. We really missed him when he quit returning to us, At one time my son raised white mice & was fun to watch, although they sometimes kept us awake wtth the tumbling wheel.
We had 2 generations of "Sheba" [German Shepherd/Husky], but the first one was my baby, given to us by my daughter, just to take care of for a while. That turned into "forever", which we were all grateful that she didn't take her back.
I don't have a memorial for Sheba, boys said no. But I sponsor a lot of "Sheba's", dogs/cats, doesn't matter. They keep me happy & busy with tokens for them.
Well, enough of this chit-chat for now & talk attcha later. Keep smiling. xoxo Ruth

* Greetings Brian * Hello Brian, so glad to hear from you and that all is well. Yes, things are so much better now, still have to get new glasses & that was to be expected. Guess I would feel lost without them.
Will talk later my friend and may your days be blessed. Ruth
* Happy Eater * Hi Brian, stopping by to wish you peace, love & happiness this Easter and always. Have a great day.
BTW. have completed cataract surgery both eyes and "I can see clearly now". However, will still have to wear glasses for reading. The Doctor was hoping that this surgery would correct my 'Fuchs Disease', but it hasn't. But I am glad that I had it done & it's finally over.
Take care Brian & may all your days be blessed. Ruth
RE: Surgery Hi Brian, thanks ever-so-much! Not suppose to strain my eye with computer work as of yet, but wanted to check in for a little bit & at least try to do special days with one eye. All went splendidly. When reading UR MSG about UR surgery last year & the after-taste of the anesthetic, maybe that was my experience when I got home Wednesday, just never connected the two, as they don't put you to sleep for cataracts, just give you enough so that you are relaxed. However, the feeling was gone the next day. It was nice to hear from you, as always. Ruth
