The descendants of the old settlers, those who cleared the land and first upturned the wild sod to the sun, should see that the doings of those early years are fittingly remembered and recorded. |
It was once remarked by a great writer that those who take no interest in the deeds of their ancestors are not likely to do anything worthy to be remembered by their descendants.
Please leave flowers or memorials on my memorials, I believe everyone deserves flowers, and I have a great family. Thank you in advance.

Your tombstone stands among the rest;
Neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out On polished, marble stone.
It reaches out to all who care It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our heart contracts and beat a pulse Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled One hundred years ago Spreads out among the ones you left Who would have loved you so.I wonder if you lived and loved,I wonder if you knew That someday I would find this spot, And come to visit you.

I see your request for Mount Moriah Cemetery. I thought you should know that the snow is rather deep in the cemeteries right now so it might be a while before someone can get to your request, but we'll get to it as soon as we can.

|Mark||St. Nicholas Cemetery general information|
Information for you to glean to add to info page for St. Nicholas Cemetery, St. Nicholas, Maple Ridge Township, Delta County, Michigan --
St. Nicholas was a community settled in 1912 by immigrants from Belgium. Ten acres were donated for a church and cemetery, located north of Saint Nicholas 31st Road on the east side of Summer Meadow G 5 Road. Plans were ambitious to build a large church. However, money ran out and a roof was put over the basement and that served as the church. Later the building was demolished and the people worshipped at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Perkins. The cemetery, that was likely adjacent to the church, still exists and is the burial place for St. Nicholas' early settlers.

Yesterday, I came across a small devotional book, “Devotional Programs for the Changing Seasons“, written by Ruth Ikerman, among the belongings/books of my deceased Aunt Lillie Allman of Clovis, New Mexico. There was a little information about Ruth in the back of the book, so I did an internet search. I then did a Find A Grave search and found your memorial for her. Thank you so much for linking Ruth C. Ikerman to her Mother, Sophie Percival. I also found some biographical information I would like to share to add to her memorial as soon as I have typed it and have it ready.
I read what you said about remembering the doings of these special people who lived before us, that they be fittingly recorded and remembered. I agree with you whole heartedly. I love searching for information about them.
Thank you so much…
