Bio

George Cooke was born in Michigan and educated
at Michigan State U., Columbia U., New York U., and
Rutgers University. He earned several degrees and
established a graphic arts company., Publication Arts. He was also a free-lance editor Prentice-Hall Publishing, and for Simon and Schuster. He was Editor-in-Chief of The University Society. He was a senior librarian at New York Public Library and director of libraries in Oradell, NJ and
Franklin Lakes NJ. He taught preservation and conservation of books, documents and photographs in the
graduate school at Rutgers and also consulted on many
private and public archival collections. Find-a-Grave has
been an invaluable aid in his genealogy researches.
He published many articles on preservation and wrote
about his work in teaching seniors to write their
autobiographies for the journal, "American Libraries." He moved to Orlando, Fl after retiring where he has taught English as Second Language to many local immigrants for ten years. He is interested in preserving historic gravestones.
