Hi, Linda, Run into your name from time to time on San Diego memorials and just wanted to say thank you for ALL of your contributions to the Find a Grave community. Your good works provide a great resource for all of us who are part of this wonderful site. Best wishes, Joel

The National Gravesite Locator also has him as being buried in Union Memory Gardens. I have found other markers that were ordered by Union Memory Gardens that were given to the family and the person was buried in a different cemetery. A military marker can only be ordered by a cemetery, does not mean he is really buried in that cemetery. I will tell you that there is not a military marker in Union Memory Garden for Tom Hopper. If I find him buried somewhere else in Union County I will let you know. Bob

We appreciate you finding our grand father and allowing us to care for his memorial.

Thanks, Linda, but no need to go digging. Anyway at that time the government supplied headstones for veterans were 42 inches tall, so it probably didn't get buried. Maybe he was moved to Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery. He's a great grand uncle of mine. My main interest is in actually tracking down descendants of his wife, Alice, who might have pictures or other information about her parents and grandparents. George.

Hi Linda, thanks for the photo. It certainly is a mystery! I found a receipt for a headstone for him on FamilySearch that was shipped on 22 Oct 1931. I wonder what happened to it.
This is a duplicate with 101240917, Carter's Ford Baptist Church, Colleton County. This is my 3rd attempt to get you to delete your memorial. I was wondering if you were still active. I'm trying to clean up the records for this cemetery. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks,Wimsang

I lived there until I was about four years old but have some vague memories from that time. My Dad'smother joined us from New England and lived there for almost ten years. We would drive down from Long Beach to visit her when he was attached to a ship based there, and we visited in 1956 when he was in a carrier that called at North Island on its way to the Bikini tests. Thatbis when I met Hans Heink to remember him. His first comment was that the last time he saw me I was only soooo big, and that I must hear that from everyone. My first sister was born in Coronado. She matrried my USNA classmate and lived in San Diego when he was assigned to a DD that was home ported there.
