I was born in 1947 in humorist Will Cuppy's hometown, Auburn, Indiana. Not knowing that Cuppy was from Auburn, I bought a paperback copy of his "The Decline and Fall of Practically Everybody" in 1966 at the campus bookstore at Indiana University, Bloomington. I thought it was terrific and mentioned it to a librarian in Auburn who told me that Cuppy was a local product. I started researching Cuppy's life in 1977, and later, his family history. His humor is a national treasure.
