I am now a ninety one year old mother, grandmother, gr-grandmother, and recently a gr-gr-grandmother. On my 80th birthday my grandkids were ask to share what they remember about grandma. Because I realized they didn't know much about their ancestors, I decided to write down what I remembered of the stories that were told to me as I was growing up. That lead me to contact the Sequoia Genealogical Society. |
Volunteers taught me how to find more than 100 years of local family history from the Tulare City Libraries Genealogical Collection.
One volunteer, a retired school teacher taught me, fourth grade style, how to search the Internet on the computer. That year my daughter and grand children gave me a computer for Christmas, and I was off and flying and now I added Find a Grave to my activities.
I am now a self appointed family historian who has been doing research on my own extended family, and that of my friends,
Seen on another contributor's profile. I couldn't agree more.
We are the chosen. In each family, there is one who seems called to find the ancestors. To put flesh on their bones and make them live again, to tell the family story and to feel that somehow they know and approve. Doing genealogy is not a cold gathering of facts, but instead, breathing life into all who have gone before. We are the storytellers of the tribe.
When you visit one of my memorials please leave a flower. I appreciate it when you say what relation, if any, to a person.
Because of my age I would like to transfer some of my memorials. For many of them, I am not a direct descendant, and I prefer to transfer to direct descendants. There are a few occasions where I will make an exception. I will not make any transfers unless you leave a flower and a note.

Dear Audrey, Thank you for your gift history to the family. I am grateful. I am interested in the photo you added of Elizabeth Ann Wiley Sherrick. She is my gr gr grandfather's sister (Alex Wiley). The photo is beautiful. That you have this treasure... might we be related?

Your Sister in Christ,

My mother's maiden name was Smith, that is how I am related to the line of the family.

Hi Audrey-I am filling your requests for Mathias and Susanna Schaff. They have porcelain photos on their headstone. I'm posting the pictures I took of the photos but will go back and retake them without the reflection of my camera in the picture...Mary
|ROBBIE DECKER||Stoulil Deacon|
I took the pictures of the Deacon stones. Was wondering if you were related to the Stoulils? My soninlaw is a Stoulil.
|LPENN||Samuel J Massey Info Request|
Hi, Ms. Hoffman:
I went out to Milligan Campground yesterday and found the stone of Samuel J and Mary Massey, but I believe you are right that he is not buried there. The stone is double-sided, with his information on the east side and hers on the west. The area of his date of death has never been carved out, which is strange.
I found the below listing of the cemetery records (from the extension service) published online by Ms. Bettie Roach some years ago--Mary L. Massey is on the list, but Samuel J. Massey is not. Hope this helps!

Francis Hayden is my 8th great-grandfather, through his daughter Mary Hayden who married John Reeder. One of their sons is Simon Reeder, father of Joshua Reeder, father of Isaac Reeder who moved to Robertson County, Tennessee. Isaac was the father of Jonathan father of Susan Reeder, grandmother of Susie Elizabeth Dillard (my grandmother).
I would love it if you would transfer this memorial to me 48272971

|FrancisMattesonLine||Find A Grave Memorial# 141869951 William Gulley|
I would be curious if you might share records you have to support this is the same William Gulley who bore 7 children with Martha Smith in Smithfield RI? The last child was recorded in 1749 so a move to North Carolina would have had to be after that. Is there a will? Thanks ever so much!

Thank you, Audrey.
|Anna||Jacob Knappenberger #85150441|
I received your corrections for his memorial. Before I make the changes, could you please recheck your source for his marriage to Catherine G. Knappenberger #134100256? He died in 1862 and she wasn't born until 1924. Thank you - Anna
