Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am now a ninety one year old mother, grandmother, gr-grandmother, and recently a gr-gr-grandmother. On my 80th birthday my grandkids were ask to share what they remember about grandma. Because I realized they didn't know much about their ancestors, I decided to write down what I remembered of the stories that were told to me as I was growing up. That lead me to contact the Sequoia Genealogical Society.

Volunteers taught me how to find more than 100 years of local family history from the Tulare City Libraries Genealogical Collection.

One volunteer, a retired school teacher taught me, fourth grade style, how to search the Internet on the computer. That year my daughter and grand children gave me a computer for Christmas, and I was off and flying and now I added Find a Grave to my activities.

I am now a self appointed family historian who has been doing research on my own extended family, and that of my friends,

Seen on another contributor's profile. I couldn't agree more.

We are the chosen. In each family, there is one who seems called to find the ancestors. To put flesh on their bones and make them live again, to tell the family story and to feel that somehow they know and approve. Doing genealogy is not a cold gathering of facts, but instead, breathing life into all who have gone before. We are the storytellers of the tribe.

When you visit one of my memorials please leave a flower. I appreciate it when you say what relation, if any, to a person.

Because of my age I would like to transfer some of my memorials. For many of them, I am not a direct descendant, and I prefer to transfer to direct descendants. There are a few occasions where I will make an exception. I will not make any transfers unless you leave a flower and a note.

Thankfull Martin edits
Thank-You for the edits for Thankfull Find A Grave Memorial# 117045199. I added her memorial when the Daughters of 1812 placed a marker on her husbands grave. I only had information they provided. I will pass on the updated information to them. Are you related to the Martins or Boltons?

RE: Find A Grave Photo Request Problem - Jesse Ritter
I had hid marker in another Doe Run photo file. I still don't know how I did it, but it is now posted. Hope you like it.

Vanderpool.s in Crane Cemetery
Mrs. Hoffman I will work on the Vanderpool unmarked graves and check them out soon and try to check with our Cemetery records and make any corrections needed. I appreciate very much for your hard work on Find a Grave.

I am a descendant of the Acton family but cannot, at the moment, specify names. I was looking at the descendants of Christopher C Acton in an effort to help another.
Reading your bio gave me the answer to a question my sister has been asking for many years and I just wanted to let you know that I believe you have given me the answer.
She has asked me why I do what I do and I've never quite been able to tell her. Now, by 'stealing' your words, I believe I can.
Not everyone understand why a person will spend hours and years looking into their ancestors, digging to find stories to go with those names, asking questions as to where we came from, how we got where we are and became who we are. I have a cousin who is just as much into family history as I but neither of us have siblings as interested.
I'm amazed at what you have accomplished in the short time you have been doing this and applaud you for your internet savvy at your age. I have been at this more than 30 years and only doing internet searches for less than half that time. The internet still feels very new to me and you have 30 years on me.
Just to say, you are a remarkable lady and deserve applaud for what you have done for your children and grandchildren. I hope they will continue your work and you will find someone to take over your project for those not related.
I'm sure your children are quite proud of their mother and grandmother.

Mount Moriah Photo Requests
You might consider contacting the cemetery to obtain the grave block and lot numbers. The cemetery is huge and there are over 100 photo requests...too many for the volunteers to research. You can send them to me on Find a Grave or update the memorial if you are the manager.

Dennis Crain
Hello Audry! I got your suggested edit for Dennis Crain, but I don't think his first name was William. Do you have any source or documentation that suggests otherwise? I've looked at his Civil War documents, his will, his father's will that names him, the census records, and they all have his as "Dennis Crain". Even the book called "Grandmother Alice" about the Crain family, has him as Dennis Crain. Now, Dennis had a son, called William Daniel Crain, and Dennis had a brother, William "Billy" Crain,Jr., but that's all I can think of. Please let me know if you have a source for Dennis' name that has William as the first name. Thanks!

According to cemetery records, she is buried in Peace Section, Lot 104 #4. I could not find a marker. Levere Blue Coleman is buried in Peace Section, Lot 106 #6. His plot has a marker, therefore, Pearl must be unmarked. Other Hollis family members are buried in Colonial 217 but I did not find her their either.

I want to let you know that I will retake the photos for everyone in their lot. We had a very nasty storm today, and the area is a mess. I didn't take my broom with me, so I'll redo them in a day or two. But I'm going to put them up now anyway for you to see. It's the Rushings and her.
