I am now a ninety one year old mother, grandmother, gr-grandmother, and recently a gr-gr-grandmother. On my 80th birthday my grandkids were ask to share what they remember about grandma. Because I realized they didn't know much about their ancestors, I decided to write down what I remembered of the stories that were told to me as I was growing up. That lead me to contact the Sequoia Genealogical Society. |
Volunteers taught me how to find more than 100 years of local family history from the Tulare City Libraries Genealogical Collection.
One volunteer, a retired school teacher taught me, fourth grade style, how to search the Internet on the computer. That year my daughter and grand children gave me a computer for Christmas, and I was off and flying and now I added Find a Grave to my activities.
I am now a self appointed family historian who has been doing research on my own extended family, and that of my friends,
Seen on another contributor's profile. I couldn't agree more.
We are the chosen. In each family, there is one who seems called to find the ancestors. To put flesh on their bones and make them live again, to tell the family story and to feel that somehow they know and approve. Doing genealogy is not a cold gathering of facts, but instead, breathing life into all who have gone before. We are the storytellers of the tribe.
When you visit one of my memorials please leave a flower. I appreciate it when you say what relation, if any, to a person.
Because of my age I would like to transfer some of my memorials. For many of them, I am not a direct descendant, and I prefer to transfer to direct descendants. There are a few occasions where I will make an exception. I will not make any transfers unless you leave a flower and a note.

What is your source for the middle name Henry? Thx, LG
|Nancy Cox-Misenheimer||Mahala Plant Jones|
My great grandmother is Margaret J. (for Josephine?) McCarty born 1840 MS. Margaret was a neighbor to Mahala and now I am sure she named her only daughter after her neighbor there in gumlog. When they lived in gumlog Margaret was marr to William Woolcut a skirt chaser and Margarets sister was Amelia McCarty who marr Stephen Plant. Margarets mother was also marr to a Plant of MS? in Tenn I think.
|The Collector||Hannah (McKee) Hills #82207695|
Regarding your edit request for Hannah Hills, she was the daughter of Andrew and Hannah (unknown) McKee. I think you have confused her with her mother. Therefore your connection of Jerusha (McKee) Colley to Hannah (McKee) Hills #82207695 is incorrect. Hannah's (wife of Andrew McKee) burial location is unknown. Hannah Hills and Jerusha Colley were sisters. Hope this helps. - Pat
|Marguerite||Jesse Soper died in Macomb County, MI|
Hello - I've accepted your edit but have corrected the death county to Macomb.
|Kyle Smith||RE: Amanda McElyea Curtis|
Hello! We seem to have an error in the right Amanda Curtis. Your Amanda Amauda "Maudy" Curtis was a Curtis from birth being the daughter of William Curtis & Sarah (Greer) Curtis. She married Seaborn J. Carter on Nov. 20, 1851 in Monroe County, GA. My Amanda Caroline (McElyea) Patrick-Curtis was born in Humphreys County, TN. She was the daughter of Hiram McElyea & Matilda (Morrisett) McElyea.
|JayLyme||Arthur Latham father edit|
You had sent me an edit for the father of Arthur Latham (1758 - 1843). The father you have listed, Bela Latham, was born in 1794, so probably not the father of Arthur.

|Debra Orris||obit additions|
I'm hoping that by adding old obits, other people will help me in the search of the lines I'm looking for. Thankyou for all your help on our shared families.
|Art Parker||Johane Hanforth memorial|
Thank you for your edit suggestions with respect to Johane (Joan) Harrison Cheney Hanforth (#143666338). If you would kindly convey the primary sources (i.e., contemporary civil or ecclesiastic records) that attest to Joan's birthdate and -place, and verify her place of death (rather than burial), I'll be happy to make those changes.

You add a photo to my memorial of my great uncle Robert Lee Taylor. It is of he, Elizabeth Buffington Taylor and some of their children. I wanted to thank you, she looks so much like my Aunt Ann Buffington Copeland. I hadn't ever seen a photo of Elizabeth when she was young.
Thanks again, Suzanne Purves Perkins
