Bio

My name is Janet E. Meadows, I was born in Haywood County to Virgil Lee and Margaret Regina Rathbone Meadows. My Grandparents were Orville William and Margaret Carleen Cody Rathbone, Virgil Lewis and Meekie Elizabeth Messer Meadows. I had one brother Virgil Lee Meadows, Jr. Died Dec. 7th 1980.
I am a first generation college graduate in addition to my B.S in Criminal Justice, Western Carolina University. I also hold two Master's Degree's in Computer Science-Information Systems (University of Phoenix) and Criminal Justice(Walden University) Major-Public Policy Administration. Specialization-Terrorism, Mediation and Peace.
When my parents are gone I will the last of my direct line. My intention is not to "change" history but rather to "preserve" it as accurately as possible for the remaining descendants of my ancestors. This only legacy I have to give them as I have never married or had children. I spent my childhood and adulthood with my parents, grandparents and elders learning to respect the past and preserve it.
Through my education I also learned to do the most thorough research possible and make sure it accurate. Even if it doesn't match up with family folklore.

My Ancestors

My ancestors are not just those of my blood but all those that came before me to these mountains. They settled here, they spilled their blood here, they buried their dead here.
They planted the seeds of new generations to be born and crops to be harvested...
When the rain falls I feel their tears, when the leaves rustle, I hear their voice when the sun shines, I feel their warmth....
These mountains are my blood and everyone that came before me.
