I have always been fascinated by genealogy and family history. |
I was born in Georgia, grew up in New Jersey, went to college in Virginia, and have now lived in Dodge City, Kansas, for more than 35 years.
My only son, Robbie, died in March 2000 at the age of 16, and I have listed him on Find A Grave. You can visit him at Robert Hampton Smith.
I also have a memorial site for Robbie at RobbieSmith.com.
MY DEAR FRIENDS FROM F-A-G:
My time online has become more limited, and I will no longer be able to make daily visits to all of your sweet angels. However, I do plan to make monthly virtual cemeteries so that I can continue to flower your angels on their birthdays and angel days.
THANK YOU to all of you for your many kind visits and messages. I so very much appreciate our wonderful family here at Find-a-Grave!

Joel Meador & Susannah Clark married sometime before 1750 possibly in Essex Co. VA or Cumberland Co. VA. They made their final home in Bedford Co. VA which later changed to Franklin Co. VA.

It was nothing. I just wanted to let you know that I can see how much he was loved. And maybe that's Robbie working his magic through my keyboard to your screen.

Sometimes while here on Find A Grave, you click things that lead you to other places. I stumbled upon your profile and clicked on your son's page and your personal page you created for him. Your stories and pictures kept me mesmerized for three hours.
I am sorry for your loss. I cannot imagine what it is like. I am sure Robbie shines his irresistible smile through the heavens every day and those beams of light are always with you.

|eleanor edmondson||Marriage of Joel & Susannah|
The date 25 Nov 1750 is not a marriage date. It is the date found for a Deed in Cumberland Co. VA when Susannah signed away her Dower Rights on a piece of property they were selling. This is not a marriage record, but a deed record. All it proves marriage wise is that they were man and wife, but it does not prove where or when they actually married.
|eleanor edmondson||Mary (Meador) Heard|
John Heard married Mary Meador in most likely Bedford Co. where her parents resided. They moved to GA ca 1783. Mary died in Greene Co. GA sometime after 1788 when her last child, Joel, was born and before the 1797 death of her husband.
The Will of John Heard in 1797 listed his SECOND wife, Elinor. Mary Meador never has had a documented middle name of Elinor. They were two separate women that John Heard married.

Saralyn, Take a look at the photo posted to his memorial. Bio, "It is now believed that John was not a soldier in the Revolutionary War, but he is known to have signed the Oath of Allegiance in Henry County, VA."
