I was born and raised in Houston County. My father, Tommie Johnson is buried at Wesley Chapel. I still miss him. I would like to thank everyone who has left a flower on his memorial. He was a wonderful man. My greatgrandmother Anne Lightfoot,is buried in Widnes, England. |
I am also the ggggrandaughter of Captain Samuel Harrison Bowen, and also James Jennings. Who both served our Country when the Tea Party first sprang into action. I am a member of The Houston County Historical Commission located in the Courthouse Annex in Crockett.
I believe very strongly in cemetery preservation. Cemeteries in most cases are the only history of those that came before us. Like rare books in a library once it's lost it's lost forever.My only intention is to create a HISTORICAL RECORDING of those who are "Gone, but not Forgotten" before their tombstones are lost forever. This is copied from a fellow graver: "Get out and photograph memorials while they are still readable. This site is primarily for GRAVE photos not genealogy, preserve those memories that are quickly fading."
For those who wonder about such things, when the number of memorials managed is higher than the number of memorials created, this is due to a few members who decided to transfer their memorials to multiple Findagrave contributors .... . and I am honored to be one of the contributors trusted to look after some of those memorials.
FROM THE FAQS:
How do I clean a headstone or grave marker?
Unless you are related to the interred on the headstone in question, DO NOT do anything to the headstone.
FROM THE FAQS: If you want to add from an obituary: Newspapers represent a very good source of information as a public record. What we ask is that those who index and memorialize the deceased from newspapers and other 3rd party accounts do so with full respect of copyright, refrain from adding information about living people, and respond generously to the family of the deceased.
I am happy to share ANYTHING that I post. Just check to be sure a family picture did not come from someone else's Collection. The source of the photograph will be posted under the photo.I have no crazy rules, My pictures are your pictures. Feel free to beg, borrow, steal with no intent to return. I take pictures of headstones out of kindness ... not for my ego or for the "numbers."
Be kind to one another because - One day we will all be, 'just a name' etched in stone. "Nothing is ended until it is Forgotten."
This is the day the Lord hath made. I will rejoice and be glad in it! (and not spend the whole day working on Findagrave!)
~~~IN GOD WE TRUST~~~
Carol would you please transfer John Nealy #41821206 to me
|sara rich||Taylor Jonas Hail|
Above name born 10 Jan 1889 died 28 Aug 1970. The obit listed on FindAGrave is not completely correct. There appears to be two different obits combined. From Mr. Hall down is incorrect for Taylor Jonas Hail. Thanks, Bob
Carol, thanks for the transfer and the beautiful tribute.
I thank you for your flower on my Mother's memorial.
|Tony||PFC Ruzell Gray|
Thanks for the information about him but I already have it. It's just I haven't been able to get to him.
I served with the same company he did.
No, I think it would be too confusing for both photos to be there. You can see from the family photo it isn't the same man. He was my Great Grandfather. Thanks
|Debby Bennett||Mary Lou Ashley|
I don't who the people pictured as Mary Lou Ashley and her husband Charlie Johnson Sharp, but it isn't Mary Lou and Charlie Johnson Sharp. How can we remove this photo? I have picture of them I would like to add, but don't want to put it on here while this one is here.
