Bio and Links

I began my interest in genealogy at about age 12 when I found interesting writings about previous generations of the family and I made copies for myself and kept them in a safe place because I thought it was fascinating. I still have those notes at age 68. I grew up in Wichita and San Antonio. Graduated high school in San Antonio.

I'm a Spec 5 Vietnam veteran married for 46 years with 3 children and 6 grand-children located in Wichita, Kansas.

I enjoy documenting graves so that others can find their kin easily and accurately. I'm grateful to those kind souls who have helped me in my research and am happy to return the favor. For every memorial I enter onto this site, that's another memorial that has a chance of getting into the right hands of family or friends.

Thanks to everyone who has sent encouraging and positive thoughts! I don't always have time to answer everyone back, but please know you too are appreciated.

Duplicates: It is never my intention to create a duplicate on purpose. If you come across a duplicate I have made, please use the SAC and let me know. Nicely, please. I'll be happy to remove it. Please don't create a duplicate of my memorials; I would rather you just ask for a transfer instead of creating a duplicate. I promise I won't grill you or make you prove your relationship to the deceased!

And for those that don't seem to get what a dupe is: If I enter a memorial on March 1st for Colby Smith and then someone else enters another memorial for the same Colby Smith on March 15th, the one entered on March 15th is the dupe, not mine.

Transfers: I will make transfers within Findagrave guidelines.

Photos: Please feel free to use any cemetery or grave photos I have posted on Findagrave for your personal use, public or private. For any photos of people, please contact me first. Some of them I have obtained permission to use from other sources and will need to run it by them first.

****If you volunteer on this website and decide you no longer want to maintain the records please transfer your records to someone who has an active account and willing to take over the records. I am one of many willing to take over records. This really will help reduce duplicates. It would also be a good idea to leave someone instructions on how to do make these transfers should you go inactive without warning.***** Thank You (Borrowed from another FAG Contributor)

Like so many other contributors, I've had to take my e-mail off my bio due to unsolicited, unwanted e-mails.

Thank you to findagrave member T.V.F.T.H. for allowing me to use the Duplicates and Photos language above.

RE: Beulah M Powell
Joe, I will correct my research on my Family Tree Maker. It does make sense especially where the cemetery is located. I will make mine Wichita, Sedgwick, Kansas.
Thanks for all your help.

Joseph Villars Finley
Hello Joe. I have come across an obit. for Mrs. Holly Talmage Schneeberger. It states she is the daughter of Joseph (#85297780) and Julia Brink Finley. I noticed in Joseph's history it mentions eight children but not Mary Mildred Finley Schneeberger (#85685745). Her obit. was in the Coshocton Tribune published on Ancestry. I wanted to mention this because I wanted you to be able to check the source.

Holly Talmage Schneeberger (#85685743) also married a second time as they had a young child and Mary was only in her 30's. In his obit. it mentions a stepson, Charles Geib. In the 1940 federal census he is married to Zola F. (#85685747)

I will send edits in the normal way, but I did want to give you some places to verify my information. Joanne

History of Harwood Family (Ballard)
I found today that I am related to William Hatley Boyer Harwood (b. 1828 NY, d. 1923) (more to his grandfather...). There is a short bio of him in Find a grave, written by Ray Ballard Jr. (History of the Harwood Family). Where do I find a copy of this or who may have it? I'm trying to find information about his parents and ancestors.. Thanks! Jared

Swen M Nelson's six children
Thank you for entering this data. I think it is the great grandfather of James William Nelson whom I'm helping in his family research. Jim's grandfather George William Nelson was born in Sweden in 1870, died/buried in Topeka. I think he may be the son of Swen/Sven. Do you have any data on George? Where did you get all the info you displayed? Jim said he and his wife went to the cemetery and could not find any headstones. I'm just trying to confirm the right grandparents for George W Nelson (1870-1949).
Thank you.
