Retired from the U.S. Marine Corps in 1990. Have lived in beautiful East Tennessee since 2004. My wife, Nikki Lynn, and I are interested in helping folks with their local cemetery picture requests.|
I am a descendant of the Herrings of Madison County, GA. Four brothers enlisted in Company A, 16th GA Infantry Regiment, Army of Northern VA, CSA (Madison County Greys) in 1861/62. One brother, Henry L. Herring (my gg grandfather), survived. Additionally, their father, Alpheus (age 51), joined Echol's Light Artillery when it was organized in July, 1862; he survived.

Thank you so much! I am just getting the hang of all this, so I thank you for your help!
|Jonathan Harris||Coy D. Harris|
I just wanted to let you know that Coy D. Harris, my grandfather, had 3 children. One child, Dale, is buried next to him. My father and aunt, Robert Vernon and Elizabeth, are still living. I hope that this information is helpful!

Will do. Thanks, R.D.

You and James Cope have duplicated several memorials. I think you are working on the same cemetery but with different names. You have it as the Idol Cemetery, and he has it as the Mount Pleasant Church Cemetery.
I noticed this when I was working on Theopolis Shockley. You have the same dates and pictures of the same headstone, but listed under different Cemetery names. I checked a few other names in both cemeteries and found more duplicates.
I am leaving a similar message for James.
Thanks for your efforts in Grainger County!

Thank you for transferring my family members to me. You have a pic of the stone? Thank god you didn't get shot. :-)
|Gay Hobt Morton||Civil War soldiers|
Thanks for the photo of Reuben Hutson. It is perfect and will make it easier for him to get on the registry at ETHC. In my search for Civil War soldiers in Grainger Co. I have seen so many photos of soldiers you have taken and posted in the past. You are a wonderful resource for anyone with an interest in the people of that county.

Great story. I added it with attribution to his great-great grandniece.
