Bio and Links
Bio Photo My name is Rita June Collvins Mayfield. I was born February 20, 1942 in Jackson County, Oklahoma. I married Vernon Roy Mayfield on April 16, 1971. My primary hobbies are gardening, oil painting, genealogy and of course cemeteries. There is something comforting about strolling through the cemetery and reading the stones. I have recently moved to Cordell, Oklahoma, but have lived in Oklahoma most of my life. Once an Okie, always an Okie. I am slowly trying to get all my family memorialized here. My virtual cemeteries represent my family, unless otherwise noted. I am going to make them public once again, and hope I can leave them without the misuse that occurred previously.

If I have a memorial that is anyone in your family, and is unrelated to me or my husband, I will be glad to hand it over to you as I don't adhere to the 4 generation only guideline, just contact me. I count it a joy and a job well done if I am able to pass on your loved one to you. It is my number two reason for doing this, second only to wishing to save all the old and battered stones from being lost forever. If you find errors on any of the information on my memorials, please get in touch with me with corrections. You are welcome to use my tombstone photos on your family files and family trees, just note where you got it.

Please don't post death certificates or census reports in the picture area on my memorials. They don't belong there and are detrimental to the looks of the memorial, plus it takes up room where photos could be placed.

RE: Loretta Fay
Hi Rita, no your reply wasn't a repeat. Like you I'd rather make several emails than take the chance of not replying. Your very welcome for the memorial of Loretta, and thanks for letting me know about the husband.

Sorry, I didn't have a whole photo. You may want to request another one. I did list the Garden. I would take the photo, but due to health I just can't anymore. If there is any more memorials you would like to manage just let me know.

RE: Virginia Curnutt
You are very welcome. I am not a "stickler" for the guidelines as they are only guidelines. I always try to place a memorial with family when possible as that's where they belong (I think).

A few years ago I had to work with Find A Grave for over a month to gain ownership for my brothers memorial due to the contributor stating to me "I DO NOT TRANSFER". That is just weird to me. Anyway, glad I could help in this small way.

RE: Need to find Connie
Thanks Rita. Sometimes the mind is slow. I should have thought of that pathway. I have done so now and await an answer from Connie. Your name was listed by Connie as a friend so the email to you. Thanks for the quick reply to my inquiry.

Need to contact Connie
I notice you are listed as a friend of Connie #47390019. I would like to contact her, but her messages are not open. She sent me the names of my ex father-in-law's parents in Austria that I didn't know about and would like to find out how and where she got the info on them. If you could pass on this message and ask her to contact me at I would be most thankful.

RE: Carpenter and Taylors
Thanks for sending me your personal e-mail address. Mine is on Ancestry but it is
I thought you said you lived in OK somewhere. I live in OK, too, in Mounds, just south of Tulsa a few miles.
I certainly enjoy our correspondence and was really surprised to find that we were related distantly. It's always fun to find cousins we didn't know we had. I have spent a lot of time looking for John Taylor, the father of George Washington Taylor, grandfather of my Dad, Owen. Several other people have been looking, too, but no one has found anything. John Taylor is such a common name.
Oh, I have noticed that my grandmother, Delia's name is not quite complete on Samuel Carpenter's page. Their names were Mary Cordelia Carpenter and Sarah Cornelia Carpenter. They were born on April 1, 1889. Mary died in 1975 and Sarah died in 1981.
I have never been to one of the reunions but I can imagine that it would be great fun to meet some of the people where I have only seen their names. I don't go back to Izard or Sharp County very often at all anymore. Since all of the family has passed away, it makes it harder to get back.
Thank you so much for all your help with this. I do enjoy corresponding with you.

RE: Samuel
No, I don't mind ... just thought I'd offer. And I LOVE receiving edits. It means someone is seeing the memorial :)
