Hi, I'm Haley Amber. I am of French-Canadian descent. I can trace my family roots on my father's side as far back as the 1660's, John Cook,Sr., my 9th great grandfather, and his wife Lydia Young. My several other great grandfather's vary from Civil War Veterans, Nathaniel Cook, to Quakers. My 7th great grandfather, Daniel Cook, was a Quaker from Dover, N.H. who came to settle in Windham, Maine.|
I was introduced to history and genealogy at a young age by my father, who is very dear to me and is always my traveling buddy on our cemetery searches across Maine. Marble stones can be interesting, but we both prefer the slate stones.
Your tombstone stands among the rest, Neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out...On old gray granite stone.
It reaches out to all who care...It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist...You died...and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you...In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse...Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled...One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left...Who would have loved you so.
I wonder when you lived and loved; I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot...And come and visit you."

AKA "Old Village Cemetery" on Findagrave.com
I'm applying to the Maine Old Cemetery Asso. to hold a summer 2016 4-day Conservator's Restoration Workshop @ this Wilton Weld Street Cemetery (in which I've relatives buried.)
If you're in the area, I'd love to talk w/you to brainstorm how we can best enroll the 50 participants needed - folks who would enjoy learning how to properly clean headstones, reset leans, & repair our many damaged historic cemetery gravestones :)

|Ronald Stillabower||Hezekiah Roberts grave location?|
While I've traced my maternal grandmother's tree back to 1530's England and my paternal grandfather's tree back to 1730's Bavaria, my maternal grandfather's tree is a mystery beyond his grandfather's name.
"Hezekiah Roberts" birth and death date and locations unknown.
An interesting finding is that Hezekiah's son and my grandfather were born and died in Cumberland County Illinois. Your Hezekiah Roberts is buried in "Cumberland County, Maine".
What little I know of the history of Cumberland County, Illinois has indicated that said county was settled by people from New England and Maine in particular.
If I were closer I'd do a rubbing on Hezekiah's gravestone to pull out additional detail.
For now, the specific location of the cemetery would be a great help to me.
Monroe County, IN
Wondering if you are also related to the Winter Family Memorials you maintain?
If not, will you do transfers outside the 4 generation rule.Please contact me through the correction section on one of the Winter Memorials my son and I maintain.
Thank you, Thomas Winter
|E Malcolm||RE: Charles Closson|
Hi, gosh it looks like I missed sending you a thank you for the transfer of Charles. I'm so sorry! Thank you, thank you, it is so appreciated!! Esther
Did the information for Stuart Brown Andrews that is buried in Forest Hill Cemetery (83498391) and his parents Marie D. and Schofield Andrews (95004365 and 95004410) come from actual Cemetery records or from someone's research. Everything that I find in Ancestry says that they died in Pennsylvania, and this cemetery is in Maine. It is a little confusing.

As mentioned, I have some photos of the interesting gravestones at Forest Hill Cemetery in Northeast Harbor. I can't figure out how to send them. Can you receive a message via ordinary eMail? I'm at dwlenz(at)earthlink.net.
