Hi, I'm Haley Amber. I was born in Portland, ME, January 3, 1995. I was introduced to history and genealogy at a young age by my father, who is very dear to me and is always my traveling buddy on our cemetery searches across Maine. Marble stones can be interesting, but we both prefer the slate stones. |
Your tombstone stands among the rest, Neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out...On old gray granite stone.
It reaches out to all who care...It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist...You died...and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you...In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse...Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled...One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left...Who would have loved you so.
I wonder when you lived and loved; I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot...And come and visit you."

|Linda Higgins||Florence Gardner Cleaves|
I do not believe Florence was ever married. Would you please remove the link to her "husband" of William Cleaves?
She was the daughter of Melvin and Alice "Gardner" Cleaves and I have included their links to her.

Dear Haley I don't know if you are the one I say this to or not, I am not sure how this system works yet. I am writing in about John and Barbara Henry in Brookside cemetery. I knew these people really well in life for over forty years. I sent in an edit that they are in deed man and wife and that he was born in Brooklyn N.Y. I sent the edit in a week or more ago and I don't know if it goes to you or to find a grave. I guess I am thinking if it did go to you perhaps find a grave did not send you an e mail telling you that I sent this edit in. I am just now getting into this web site. I hope indeed this is the right person to notify. Thank you very much. I like your site with the interesting graves. I am from Maine half my life and the other half from Ohio. My sons also follow me on grave hunts and like to do what you do with your father. My hope is that my sons stick with it after I am gone.
