My husband Rick Matthews lost his battle with lung cancer on Saturday, 2 Jul 2011. Please stop by and leave a note for him. |
Rick and I were writing a book on the men of the 143rd PA Inf. and had located and photographed more than 1300 headstones of the 1526 men of that elite unit.
To honor my late husband, I will finish his book because it was so important to him that the men of the 143rd get the recognition they so richly deserve.
We appreciate the assistance of those who have helped us obtain photos from areas where we are not able to travel, and we return the favor by taking photos in our area for those who are unable to make it here to visit the graves of their ancestors. It's the next best thing to being there.
I have been doing genealogy for many years and run a free interactive genealogy group here in Luzerne Co., PA. We have more than 840 members from 14 countries on 4 continents, all with Luzerne Co., PA ancestors. Truly amazing!
You can find us at:
Also, check out the Wilkes-Barre Record Almanacs:
(The Almanacs were transcribed by members of The Courthouse Gang on Yahoo.)
Please note: No transfers will be made if they are not requested by using the EDIT tab or if they are members of my family.

Received your message, and I'm so sorry you've had so much trouble after your surgery...I've been told that shoulder surgery is among the worst. :( I hope the physical therapy is successful, and I'm looking forward to "talking" further with you. Take good care, Elizabeth

Patty, thank you for everything you do. I am asking permission to add the picture of my grandparents stone to my family tree. I was a member of the courthouse gang site several years ago but got a new computer and a new email and lost contact.
I used to work with Mary Dysleski, I'm sure you know her from the Courthouse. I worked at E.W. Bilbow Abstract Co. and Mary was a searcher there back in the day.

Thanks so much for transferring Fred's memorial to me. I've updated his information and linked him to his parents and his wife.
I really appreciate your help as always. If not for you and the Courthouse Gang, my Luzerne county genealogy progress would be very poor to say the least!

Would you mind if I use your photo of the Cedar Crest Cemetery sign on my ancestry.com family tree? Thanks for your consideration. Gwen
