Fallen Graver

Sadly, Carol Page Tilson has passed away. Please consider visiting their Find a Grave memorial page and leaving some virtual flowers. Their enthusiasm for cemeteries and willingness to help future generations lives on through their contributions to Find a Grave.

Bio

As a former newspaper reporter/photographer, high school journalism and photography teacher, old-fashioned genealogical researcher and long-time Find A Grave member, I believe the best memorial should be correct, as complete as possible, and linked to parents, spouse and children. It should memorialize a person, not just a name.

As a Family Find A Graver and genealogist, all of my memorials are for my own or my husband's ancestors and collateral kin, both close and distant, as well as a few in-laws. Almost all the information is documented by primary evidence [legal documents]. Censuses and obituaries provide secondary support.

However, I've been around this site long enough to know this is seldom the case. Most memorials are submitted by folks who know little or nothing about the people and places.

And remember, not everything "engraved in stone" should be considered fact.
