Bio

Greetings from Rutland County, Vermont!

Please read the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs/Help) and Take pride in your work!!! Quality over quantity.

2024 is off to a slow start, but a start nonetheless! Due to physical limitations and family health issues I will once again spend most of my time at Calvary Cemetery in Rutland. Might not get as much done this year, but I will definitely get something - can't keep me out of a cemetery!

NOTE
As of 2019, my health precludes me from being "in the field" as much as I'd really like anymore. I'm still on my own two feet, but my mobility is pretty poor along with my balance. I use two sticks to walk, and now sometimes a transport chair, can't get up on my own or step over a stick on the ground. Clearly I really love doing this, because it would be easier to just give it up but you know what? I'll rest when I'm dead! That said, if I have helped you in the past in the field, I may no longer be able to, and for that I apologize. However, I'm still perfectly capable of working on the site, so if there is anything I can do for you there, continue to send me what you have.

I hate to have to add this but the past few years there has been a noticeable uptick in folks who are rude and entitled and call names. If you are one of those folks it reflects poorly on you, not me. Try some kindness. I think you'll find it in return.

INFO/CORRECTIONS
Use the edit tab on the upper right hand corner of the memorial in question. Vermont and New England have a lot of vital records online for free. Please use them.

A BIRTH record is a record of a BIRTH
A MARRIAGE record is a record of a MARRIAGE
A DEATH record is a record of a DEATH
And in Vermont, a cemetery transcription card circa 1919-21 is NOT a death record. It is a cemetery transcription only. They have been mixed in with death records for some reason and people not understanding they are not a death record has caused numerous headaches.

Please know the definition of ANCESTOR and DESCENDANT (hint: they aren't your 3rd cousin 5 times removed) and learn what a CENOTAPH is and how to deal with it. Do not ever merge them.

I will decline links to BURIAL UNKNOWNS. Ditto birth date calculations. The world will not end if a date field is blank.

I am not one of those contributors who just blindly hits accept or lets edits go for 21 days. If I decline something, let me know why it is right. I spend more of my time doing edits vs. making memorials, often hours a day, trying to verify edits, as I continue to get incorrect and/or incomplete information every day. I am always more than willing and able to let you know my source(s) when asked.

Not everyone can afford pay sites. I'm one of them.

TRANSFERS
Within guidelines, yes! Always! Please state your exact relationship and be polite in your request.

Once a memorial leaves my hands, I am not responsible for what people do to it.

USE OF MY PHOTOS
No need to ask. Just credit. Do not post my photos to other memorials on the site. I will have those removed. And do not use any to make you money. Unless of course you plan to share :)

PHOTO REQUESTS
If I have claimed your request, I hopefully have the photo. Just might take a few days to post it.

I will no longer fill requests in Whitehall, NY, Springfield, VT or Charlestown, NH, as it has been made clear by others I've wasted years of my life in those places. I no longer have time to do that due to my health. If I would've helped you, my apologies. If I did, check your photo order and arrange accordingly.

GPS
If you find one of my memorials with GPS coords, chances are I did not put it there. Please take them with a grain of salt, as ones sent to me are almost never remotely accurate (wrong section, the gate, not even in the cemetery or town or even state).

VERMONT DEATH CERTIFICATES
Those adding memorials based on Vermont death certificates...under final disposition please makes sure it specifies "burial". If it says "vault", "storage", "entombment", you can not know for sure if that is the cemetery where the person ultimately ends up. Many cemeteries do not have any or adequate storage for the winter and people are temporarily stored until spring.
