Bio

As an 11th generation Marylander who grew up knowing nothing of my family history, in the 1990s I developed an active interest in genealogy and finding the final resting places of my ancestors. I find it satisfying to put the pieces of my family together. F.A.G. has helped me do that. But most importantly, I have long believed in the importance of honoring and remembering our ancestors by keeping their names alive. Part of doing so is maintaining their graves and by photographing their markers to make them accessible to future generations. I fondly remember many conversations with my older (now long-gone) relatives and hearing them tell stories of their elders, their lives, and where they came from. Since I've traveled alot I always make time to find some interesting and out-of-the-way cemeteries. I've also taken pictures of several previously unphotographed famous graves, including those of Greta Garbo, composer Edvard Grieg, philanthropists Walter and Leonore Annenberg, Irv Robbins (Baskin & Robbins), and actress (and first wife of Ronald Reagan) Jane Wyman. Several of these graves are not easily accessible and were particularly difficult to photograph. Don't ask (wink). Please feel free to send any additions or corrections either by email or by using the edit tab. And by all means if you are a family member of mine (or think you might be), no matter how distant , please contact me. I'd love to talk and share info. Thanks! Please remember to credit the use of any photographs.
