I've seen old cemeteries with headstones sunken so far into the ground I couldn't even see the name at the top of the stone. I've see illegible weathered headstones and headstones damaged by careless lawn care or vandalism. I've read about entire cemeteries that are physically lost and gone forever. If we're lucky, someone long ago made a record of the cemetery, but we aren't always that lucky. My first surname search on this site brought up 6 listings nationwide. Six. I knew there were at least 20 headstones with that surname in one cemetery back home. This is why I do what I do.
I receive numerous requests for links, adds, corrections, additional genealogy info, etc. The information I have listed in the memorial came from the headstone, in the cemetery. Definitely let me know if there's a mistake on the memorial information. If you want the person's genealogy information on the memorial, please submit a SAC and request transfer of the memorial. I'm not related to 99.9% of the memorials I manage. If you know enough info to send a SAC with info I can't see/don't have time to verify - you may find that memorial transferred to you. Not because I don't care, but rather I don't have the time to research each of the 8,000+ memorials I manage. If you want me to transfer a memorial please be sure you're logged in before submitting your SAC - otherwise I don't have your member # for the transfer. Please keep in mind I don't check for requests daily - sometimes even weekly. This doesn't mean that I'm not active in FaG or ignoring your requests. It just means that I'm a little busy at the moment. By all means submit another request if you think I missed you. I'll get to it. Have a great day!
