RE: Henry Smith Memorial
It's up to you, what want to do with your memorials. But for me, I would put a note in the bio that his birth name was Schmidt.

I have been tempted to to the same thing with some of my memorials, then I think to myself it would be misleading if I did.

It would be nice if Find A Grave would put another box such as "also known as" or something like that.

Thank you for doing a good job of working with me and other members.

I wish all members would be more like you, if so we all could really make family history come alive for everyone.

Ms Virginia:

I find a lot of obits from STANDARD SPEAKER, but find some at the funeral director sites or county. Would you like me to include the source, in the future?

Thank you!
Thank you so much for leaving a note on my son Nathan A. Shelton's memorial. It helps so much with the grieving process at times to know others care enough to take the time to add a "little something"! Thank you!

RE: Mabel Carr
Hi Virginia, The death certificate # for Mabel Carr is 49050 of Luzerne County.
I wanted to write you a couple of times and "thank you" for all the work you do on Find-A-Grave. I have found it useful many times and I know others have.
Next, I wanted to discuss the issue about my asking for money to obtain the graveyard pictures. I don't do cemetery work anymore because I can no longer walk. A friend of mine was looking for extra money and I suggested he do it because I saw there were many people who needed photos taken and had their names on the volunteer list for over a year. And, there were several people who were very happy to pay for this service. I don't see any harm in it, but I won't be doing it again. There was a nice person who wrote me and suggested that I make my own website and offer to take pictures. I am going to do it that way.
I have been doing genealogy since 1977, long before home computers. I have helped many people over the years, both for a fee and also doing volunteer work. As a single parent I was able to raise my three children on the money I made. There is nothing wrong with making money from what you love to do.
I have posted over 100,000 items on the Ancestry Boards for the use of others. I still volunteer 1 day a week to index records for Ancestry and 1 day a week to index records for the Mormon Church.
Are you aware that Find-A-Grave is now owned by Ancestry. Ancestry is a commercial website and makes millions of dollars every year on people doing genealogy. Nothing is wrong with that because they are running a business. But, if I want to charge $5.00 for gas to go a round trip of 20 miles to Calvary Cemetery, you find that disagreeable. If people are willing to pay the $5.00 to get their long awaited pictures, how is that hurting you?

RE: Request for money for photos
Thank you for reporting them. I found it utterly disrespectful to the thousands of volunteers on here who work tirelessly to make records available.

RE: Lt John Keister
Glad to help, but I'm afraid the grave was already posted. I supplied the owner with the biography. See Findagrave #39270253.
