I took over after my Aunt Geraldine Martinez passed. This is all new to me but I have become addicted in finding where my family members rest. No one should be forgotten.|
I was born in Alexandria, Virginia and now resides in Florida.
I am researching, on my fathers side of the family, Rhodes, Walters, Wright & Brockman in Virginia. On my mothers side, Lytle, Channing, Hayden & Moore in Pennsylvania. And for my Grandchildren, Greene, Caudill. Hutchinson & Vallance's in Kentucky.
I have noticed that I am not the only one impatient with the tokens coming up and I end up with two. I found that if you click on the flowers it will take you to a link to delete the extra one. =)
I have also found a link to calculate birth dates, so when you only have a date of death & the headstone gives you their years it will give you the date of birth. http://longislandgenealogy.com/birth.html
I have met the most wonderful people with Find-a-Grave. What a great family we have here. Thank you all for doing what you do.
Everyone has been so generous with their photos that I would like to reciprocate. You may use my photos in you family trees. All I ask is for a thank you and recognition from whom you got them.
Happy Hunting =)
Strangers in the Box
By Pamela A. Harazim
Come, look with me inside this drawer,
In this box I've often seen,
At the pictures, black and white,
Faces proud, still, serene.
I wish I knew the people,
These strangers in the box,
Their names and all their memories
Are lost among my socks.
I wonder what their lives were like.
How did they spend their days?
What about their special times?
I'll never know their ways.
If only someone had taken time
To tell who, what, where, when,
These faces of my heritage
Would come to life again.
Could this become the fate
Of the pictures we take today?
The faces and the memories
Someday to be tossed away?
Make time to save your pictures,
Seize the opportunity when it knocks,
Or someday you and yours could be
The strangers in the box.

Your welcome Melva Jo, it's been a long slow process at Lafayette(with a story) but I'm finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. And yes you can use the photos.

Dear Ms. Wright, I just wanted to thank you for taking and posting a photo of my great-great aunt's grave, and for adding the sweet message, "Rest in peace, little one." It was so unbelievably kind and sweet! Sadly, I did not even know that little Marie Zuercher even existed until I talked to a great uncle last month to find out some more info to help me with my genealogy research! And he didn't even know much about her either, including whether she was born in Switzerland or the U.S. But, thanks to you and Find a Grave, I finally found her today!! And I am so ecstatic that this sweet little soul will not be forgotten anymore, since I have now recorded her in my family tree!! Thank you again for taking this picture and allowing me to use it in my tree!! I can't wait to share her information with my family! Thank you so much for volunteering for Find A Grave, and allowing people like me to find our long-lost loved ones!! Your acts of kindness and beauty are so greatly appreciated. Much love & peace, Erin :)

|Family Tree Climber||Pending edits...|
A lot of contributors are not aware of edits being sent to them that appear on the edit tab of their bio page. I sent you one that is still pending and thought you might not be aware of it.
A number will appear in the edit tab if there is anything waiting your action. The edits will only hold there for 21 days, and then automatically be accepted through Find A Grave. I thought you might want to review them and accept or decline after review, instead of your memorials being changed without your being aware of it.
Emails are not sent by Find A Grave when these edits are suggested, so other than looking at your edit tab, you won't get notice of them.
You can 1) accept and the memorial will update automatically; 2) decline and a box will pop up for a message that will go to the person who suggested the edit; or 3) ignore - but that is just temporary for the 21 days, then it will be accepted.
Thanks for your work..

Hi Melva, your welcome and yes by all means use the photo. They are what connects the past to the present. Randy
