I've been interested in genealogy almost as far back as I can remember, but I started actively pursuing it about five years ago. Now it's a way of life, and I am passionate about the free dissemination of genealogical info--which Find A Grave is a great resource for! I live in the Madison, Wisconsin area, but I also spend a lot of time cataloging Grant County cemeteries. But basically, anywhere I happen to travel I like to stop by and snap at least a few photos of any cemetery I come across.

I started out by uploading the pictures I'd taken of family member's graves. As I did this, I realized what a wonderful tool Find A Grave is to bring info to families free of charge. Am I related to everyone that I post memorials/pictures for? No. Do I care about memorializing these individuals for future generations? Most definitely! (Are my photos glamor shots? No, but we all have to start somewhere.)

There are many kinds of people that use Find A Grave for many different reasons. I believe we can all work together to reach our goals of documentation and memorialization. Some post information related to their family; some transcribe books of cemetery inscriptions; some photograph cemeteries full of people they are not related to, perhaps out of the belief that in death we are all equal and feel a connection to that greater family of the entire human race. Everyone's contributions are important.

I do not believe in "hoarding" memorials. If you are a family or friend of one of "my" memorials, please message me and I will be happy to transfer ownership to you (excepting my immediate family). Please use my photos wherever you would like; all I ask is that you use them with respect.
