Bio

I was born and raised in Oregon, the son of a pioneer family that came west in 1844. From a very early age I was raised with annual memorial day visits to various cemeteries where family members are buried. I found that walking through cemeteries was an exciting and often sad adventure with a mixture of other emotions. I wondered at the life stories of the people buried there and my imagination ran wild.

Later I became interested in genealogy and began piecing together some of those stories. In graduate school I minored in history and I have been "hooked" ever since. I love historical research and spent part of the summer of 2010 in the Cornell archives researching a Union army officer I learned about doing historical interpretation at Fort Vancouver National Historical Site.

My family lines that I research are Neal, Hatcher, Krantz, Buell, Bennett, and Maben among others. I also do research for my wife in the Havely and Kribbs families.

I am also interested in cemetery preservation and restoration.
