My search for members of my family expanded to include the men with whom they served during the Civil War and WW1. Those units being:
113th Illinois Volunteer Infantry (Civil War)
1st Illinois Light Artillery (Civil War)
5th Machine Gun Battalion, 2nd Division, AEF. (WW1)
For anyone interested, I've added a virtual cemetery of members of the "Forlorn Hope" volunteer storming party, which assaulted Vicksburg on 22 May 1863. Known survivors were awarded the Medal of Honor thirty-one years after the event. Among them are four veterans of the 113th IL Vol. Infantry.
My family surnames of interest include: Baker, Benker/Banker, Eliasberg, Kaaz, Kramer, Leoprick/Loeprick, Moore, Ohnesorge, Schmeling, Schwartz, Silverstone/Silvestone, Torbet/Torbett.
My wife's family surnames of interest are: Champion, Geschke, Hammond, Hauschild, Jackson, Robinson, Sims, Staley, Watts, Weems, Wilson.
