Northwest Indiana mother of 3... Dedicated to preserving the memory and posterity of our ancestors, and I also enjoy learning about myself from the past, and also helping others to connect the dots as well.

I am particularly interested in advocating for more respectable conditions for Oak Hill cemetery in Hammond, IN. My interest is personal as my family is buried on this historic, hallowed grounds. For more info:

* All existing headstones in the ground for Oak Hill have already been photographed and Memorials created, unless they have passed after 2014.

If you are local and are interested in donating to Oak Hill, consider donating flowers, perrennials, work gloves, Menards gift cards, or even your time pulling weeds and helping to maintain the improvements to the grounds.

The South Shore Civil War Memorial Trail will help replace broken or worn headstones for Civil War Veterans and their wives. The organization will also help provide GAR Medallions, QR codes, and Special Markers for Wounded Veterans. Each Special Marker cost approximately $250.00 and each Medallion is roughly $10.00 and also comes with a fresh American Flag. These could not be possible without donations from the public.

South Shore Promotions Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization affiliated with the South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority.

I will gladly take photos at St. Mary's and Maplewood Cemeteries in Crown Point, and will attempt to fulfill other requests on other cemetery adventures. I thank you all for your time!

“Show me the manner in which a nation cares for its dead and I will measure with mathematical exactness the tender mercies of its people, their respect for the laws of the land and their loyalty to high ideals.”
