I would like to ask if you would take a moment to place a flower at my dad's memorial, Gene H. Barnes (1928-2007) at Wichita Park Cemetery, Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas? Many thanks to those who have.
At one time or another, we have all looked at a cemetery and felt that the people buried there are not only long gone, they're also long forgotten. And if it happens to be our relatives or friends it can leave an especially empty feeling. But, Findagrave empowers us to put an end to those concerns. Therefore, I now view cemeteries as a place where people can be remembered and their stories saved and shared rather than lost.
Just one of the many lives that sticks with me is that of Daniel Cason, former slave and Union Civil War soldier who died in Newton, Kansas in 1911 at the age of 67. What incredible obstacles some have been forced to overcome.
Within most people, there is a basic desire to learn the events of their family's history. The fortunate ones get to experience those moments of discovery. As Gordon Lightfoot wrote, "to know the wherefore and the why."

If you mean Rhoda that is his younger wife. :) He was married to Mary in KY then in later years to Rhoda. Both ladies drew from his Civil War pension and both shared in his estate. Long story...
Any way in his obit which is a great write up of that time period of a black man " He is survived by his wife, and three children. Mrs. A. L. Ford, of this city; Thomas Cason of Aurora Illinois; and Miss Amanda Cason who resides in Madisonville, Kentucky.
He also has a brother, Morris Cason, in Penbrook, Kentucky.
My grandma and grandpa went to his funeral and said there was standing room only for this well loved man.

Hi I have done quite a bit of research on Daniel. I have a letter he wrote to my grandpa and a photo that I think is of him when he was helping on our farm. He worked part time for my great grandpa.
Recently found he was an officer of the GAR that met at Annelly then later in Newton.

I was led to believe that this couple was buried in the Fairview Cemetery, Kiowa Co KS however I am unable to locate them on Find A Grave.
Could you check the cemetery to see if they are actually buried in this one.
|Mary Simonelli||Martha J. Piper|
Just want to let you know that there are two memorials for Martha J. Piper, at two different cemeteries, both in Linn County, MO. Yours is the first memorial posted, but I don't know which cemetery Martha is actually buried in. The other listing also has an unnamed infant of hers listed in a separate memorial. Martha's other memorial is Find A Grave Memorial # 132064102
Martha is a relative of mine, but the duplicate memorial is not mine. Thought you might want to contact the holder of the duplicate memorial to figure out where Martha is buried, and to consolidate the memorials.

I've been looking for info about these two sisters this morning, Agnes #97462668 and Marie #93734461, and found this:
There are some Riddles buried in Lyon County and I was trying to link them, including Samuel # 68603383, the son of Matthew.
