I am part of a project to research the history, "residents" and eventually to record all inscriptions in Gravesend Cemetery, Kent. I am happy to take photo requests for this cemetery as I am a frequent visitor there. I am always interested to hear from anyone with any information about interesting people buried there, (they certainly don't have to be "famous"!)

I am always willing to transfer ownership of my memorials to relatives.

RE: Joseph CAVE died 1820
Thank you. I must look further into this organisation.

RE: Joseph CAVE died 1820
I am related to his wife, but as far as I can tell they had no children, so no descendant cousins.
What is involved with ownership?

Joseph CAVE died 1820
Many thanks for the information that you've provided.

I have copied your photo of Joseph Cave's 1820 Monumental Inscription in St Peter & St Pauls, Tonbridge and will use it with your permission, suitably acknowledged.

I don't know if you can use it, but here is an extract from his will directing the construction of his tomb.

"I desire to be buried on the South side of the Church Yard of the Parish of Tonbridge near the spot where my Father and Mother are interred And I direct my body to be deposited in a vault to be created for that purpose and that a Tomb to my memory be put up over my grave."

Hi JS,
I wonder if you created this cemetery and could add a historical description of it. I have edited what the friends of Woodbury Park have written.

Until 1829, Tunbridge Wells was in the parish of Tonbridge and most inhabitants were buried either at Tonbridge, Speldhurst or Frant.
In 1829 the Parish of Holy Trinity was created with a churchyard. This was full by 1849, and Trinity Cemetery (now called Woodbury Park Cemetery) was opened. However by the 1870's the three acres of the cemetery were virtually full. Thereafter the only interments allowed were of relatives in existing graves. The last interment was in 1934.

In 1873 the Tunbridge Wells Cemetery in Hawkenbury was opened (now called the Kent and Sussex Cremetorium and Cemetery).

Thanks Susan

RE: Charles Frederick Huth
His memorial number is 32728582

I can't be sure that this is the same man, as the family seemed to favour the names Charles and Frederick! And I can't read the inscription below the name in your photograph. His death was registered in Tunbridge so it is a fairly safe bet. Can you visit the churchyard easily? I live in Hampshire so not so easy for me! His family were leading merchant bankers of the day and he was a noted art collector. He was the grandfather of Capt Guy Dickson (number 12979918 ) whose grave I look after.

Charles Frederick Huth
If this is the person I think it is, his date of birth is 07.11.1806 and his date of death is 11.03.1895. I can provide other information if you would like

Hello, js! I notice that you have created a number of memorials for the Church of the Holy Apostles in Istanbul, some for individuals born or buried before the year 1000. I have only a few such memorials but have not been able to figure out, or find in the FAQ, how to enter dates prior to the year 1000. The program rejects three-digit years and does not accept 0 as the initial number. How did you do this?
Grateful for any advice you can offer,

PS. If you have time, please take a look at one such memorial, (which I linked to one of your own):

I'd be grateful for your opinion on how I entered the queen's name, with no surname. (I don't think Eudocia was a surname--but will do a bit more research on that.) I've asked for a lot, I know!! :-)
