I am part of a project to research the history, "residents" and eventually to record all inscriptions in Gravesend Cemetery, Kent. I am happy to take photo requests for this cemetery as I am a frequent visitor there. I am always interested to hear from anyone with any information about interesting people buried there, (they certainly don't have to be "famous"!)

I am always willing to transfer ownership of my memorials to relatives.

Thanks so much for taking the photo of the headstone. It has helped break down a longstanding brick wall. I would love to know what the last two lines say - where did John die - looks like Worthing xxxx and I just can't make out the line below. Could you have a look and help me out?
Also, the headstone gives the year of birth for both Margaret (Sept 1822) and John (22 November 1831). Your posting, reads "unknown" right now. Could you enter this information?
Thanks so much
Peter

Hello!

Thank you so much for taking a picture of my great-grandfather's grave!

The only problem with it, is that I can't read anything on it- it is too out of focus. There is quite a bit of writing on it, mentioning a person I never heard of, and it looks very impressive.

I am DYING to know what it says, help! :)

George Robert Joyce
Hi
I am a researcher for Aircrew Remembered researching the loss of George Robert Joyce who is buried in Gravesend Cemetery. Would you allow me to use the picture you took of his headstone on the page of remembrance? I would of course credit you for this

Fantastic work you are doing

Kind regards
Kate

RE: William Cowan
Hello "JS" - many thanks for your help. I was very happy to "find" this uncle who died several years before my birth, and living in France, this reserch seemed even more difficult to me.
His bibliography will be very short, as unfortunately William was only 20 years old when he was killed accidentally whilst on Dover site with the Royal Artillery.
I wish to slightly change the message accompanying the virtual flowers on his site but do not know how to proceed, not finding the way to delete my previous note. Could you please help me ? Thanks very much in advance. Regards YC

P.S. What is meant by "marker transcription" ??

Lieut Harold William Gardner
Hi JS, I am writing about memorial # 58298033 for Lieut Harold William Gardner. You've done a nice job photographing the grave site! I was wondering if you had any more information regarding Harold, he is a cousin of mine that I have been researching. Is he a relation to you? Would the cemetery have more information? Thanks for any help you can give me. Sincerely, Susan Platz
