Bio Photo A Southern Family Tree is not a tree but a beautiful Wisteria Vine with many branches going everywhere and a lost root!

NSDAR 1988 Patriots: Rev. Lewis Cookson Davis, John Anderson, Charles Heard, William Hay, Lt. Willis Pope, Nathaniel Jones,John Stovall, Absalom Davis and Owen Griffin. Only one has a known grave site so the rest do not have memorials on FAG. (Update Nov 2015: found that other members are now making unknown burials of these patriots meeting their genealogy storage goal and not FAG's goal of recording graves sites)

Colonial Dames of XVIIC 2009 Colonial Ancestor: Bartholomew Stovall, NC

Amelia Island Genealogical Society~ Corresponding Secretary 2004-2005 and Past Nassau County, FL Genealogical Website Committee member.

Published in the Quarterly magazines of the Southern Genealogical Exchange and Amelia Island Genealogical Society articles on my family and various others of North FL lines.

6th Generation Floridian: Ancestor Florida Pioneer Abner Sweat and son Samuel.

To keep weeds out of the beautiful Find A Grave garden....

First, I don't link to Burial Unknown Site Memorials as BU shouldn't be on FAG according to the guidelines of the website. Do not request relationship edits to a BU as it will be refused. The first criteria for making a memorial on FAG is having the burial site, as this is a grave registration site. When you made a BU, you have a chance of losing the memorial to the member who "Find A Grave" in the cemetery.

Second, I may or may not transfer outside of the guidelines to an established member. It is my choice. Long-time hard working-members, who are busy in surveying cemeteries and taking grave photos impress me more than someone who is collecting others' memorials for their personal goal or waiting for someone to find the burial sites for their numerous memorials made with an "unknown burial site".

If you are seeking transfer to "have all your family together" ~ use the virtual cemetery button. Then all of the memorials will be in the same "cemetery", and you can look at them daily.

Lastly, there are no duplicated memorials on FAG. If I find a duplicated memorial while researching this site, there is 99% chance that it will be deleted or merged eventually.

You may disagree with the guidelines but remember the guy who started Find A Grave wrote them. He is the boss.

Many of the memorials transferred to me were done without my request for them. These memorials have found a home and will be nurtured.

Also, thank you for all the flowers and tokens left on my family's memorial. They are all sincerely appreciated by me and my family.

Remember to check on the Discussion Forums here. They are very newsy, helpful and interesting!

13892958 and 151552373
Last year, at my own considerable expense, I got into my truck and drove the 500 miles up to Hillside Cemetery in Natural Bridge, NY. Over the course of two hot, humid days, I photographed ALL of the stones in the yard, except for the newer section [south of the center road in the SW corner], and have been creating memorials for those that did not have one, and attaching my photos to those that did.

The memorials you referenced are NOT duplicates. My understanding of duplication would be when someone inadvertently [or intentionally] creates a memorial in the same cemetery where one already exists. This is not the case in this example. Furthermore, it is irrational to expect someone to check every cemetery, everywhere, when you have a stone in front of you that you just photographed.

The woman who created 13892958 [Jean, #46791917] did so, presumably, by using someone else's printed list of burials at Natural Bridge, and then creating memorials for those folks at Hillside in Champion, because the two yards share the same name, and she's probably never physically been to either location. This certainly seems to be the case, as hardly any of her entries at Champion have headstone photos attached to them, because the majority of those folks are probably not buried there. She has done a great genealogical disservice to those of us who have relatives buried in Natural Bridge, and, because of this, ALL of her submissions are subject to scrutiny, as she hasn't bothered to cite her source for the majority of the information that she's provided.

Imagine, if you will, going to Champion to locate a grave that she has assured you is there, spending hours looking for it to photograph, or to spend a quiet moment in reflection of your loved one's life, only to find out sometime later that you were in the wrong place, 15 miles away. Fortunately, in my case, I'd done enough research to believe, even though she claimed that my relatives were buried at Champion, that didn't make any sense, so I looked elsewhere.

I have contacted her, and she has not responded. Either she, or F-A-G, needs to address her mistakes. Neither you nor I have to requisite tools to do so, and I, for one, am unwilling to spent valuable research time correcting someone else's errors. She's submitted 10691 memorials, of which there are only 265 photos for, so she may be responsible for as many as 10426 mistakes.

I have supplied F-A-G with a copy of this note, and hopefully, they will address the issue.

Rex Gardner
In regard to memorial for Rex Gardener, there is a monument documented in Mount Hope Cemetery, just haven't found it yet. According to our records at the Holt County Historical Society, he is interred there, do you have the memorial number for him in another cemetery? Thanks!

Hi Linda - I don't know the answer. I can't see my bio now. I wonder if Find A Grave did it. I find strange things all the time. Like flowers I've left. The image I entered is changed to something else. If I had it cremated before you wrote your bio I could always change it back. Please let me know. Doug

I've voted for Pat Conway
Thanks Linda - I just did so. (I checked all of mine)

Two memorials of mine are of special interest. Actor Jon Lormer was yellow starred and famous, but for some reason Find A Grave downgraded his memorial. This was my second famous memorial that I created. Maybe because he didn't have a place of burial. It was accepted originally - did they downgrade all the others that were famous but had no place of burial?

My memorial for actress Jean Willes should be an automatic. Though the bio should be re-written. After it got rejected a couple times I just gave up and kept adding info that I found. Her huband was a pretty famous NFL football player and his was rejected as well.

Thanks for your consideration of these - Doug

Ann Geiszler
I registered Ann Geiszler in the Moorhead Memorial Cemetery because she and her spouse have a grave marker there. I have also attached a picture of their grave marker. I do not know if she is actually buried there nor do I have any way of finding out.

Thank you Linda for such a lovely biographical entry which was successful in getting it accepted as famous. I don't know why I couldn't find it when I did a search of the first and last name? Best Regards - Doug Sorensen
