I have enjoyed reading the letters that you have posted. The one from James to his brother Archibald was referenced to in a paper entitled "James and Jane McNeill of North Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama' by Harriet Dickson Reynolds, published in 1963. As the title states it main concern is James and Jane's families, but there is notations about Charles and history of McNeill Clan beginnings in North Carolina. There are a good number of sources to follow up on as well. Contact me thru my email account and I will happy to email you a copy, if you would like.

Happy hunting,
