August 31, 2022 I took a very long break from F.A.G. due to Covid and a move to New Hampshire. Now that things are getting back to a new normal, I'm planning on resuming my searches and photo requests. Right now I see that there are 1733 requests for Mount Auburn Cemetery alone, in Cambridge, MA. That's a HUGE undertaking and I hope to be able to fill many of those requests.

April 15, 2020 In the midst of COVID-19, a large portion of cemeteries in Massachusetts were closed to the public. Some of them, like Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, had very limited hours. There are over 1100 photo requests for this cemetery alone - at some point everyone that normally fills requests will be able to catch up. Be safe, wear masks, wash your hands and maintain social distances.

****** I was able to get into the Bigelow Chapel at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, MA at the end of October 2018 and take hundreds of pictures. From this, I've been able to create new memorials for 536 people so far and have added a couple of hundred pics to memorials already created. I have a few hundred more to create and will hopefully be able to get back to fulfilling requests in the coming months - thank you for all your patience! *****

I've been researching my roots for over 20 years and have now started to record cemeteries for others. I've also started adding any Irish and Canadians that I come across, in tribute to my ancesters, military graves & any children that I find - they seem to be the hardest to find & I'm recording them as I find them.

On December 1, 2018 Mt Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, Mass. had a ribbon cutting/open house for the public. In a little over an hour, I was able to take approximately 500 pictures of the cremations area and will be adding them as quickly as I can. If you've had any requests, please check occasionally to see if I've been able to fill your request - Sharon

A coin left on a headstone lets the deceased soldier's family know that somebody stopped by to pay their respect. Leaving a penny means you visited. A nickel means that you and the deceased soldier trained at boot camp together. If you served with the soldier, you leave a dime. A quarter is very significant because it means that you were there when that soldier died".

Instructions: How do I add a link from one memorial to another?

In order to create a link in the biography of one memorial to someone else's memorial (such as the person's spouse or parent), you will need to use a bit of HTML code. It's hard to put into words, so here is an example (from Johnny Carson's biography which has a link to Red Skelton's memorial page): Pioneering Television Legend, Comic, Host. Carson began his entertainment career in radio but quickly moved to television. He moved to Hollywood to become a writer for "The Red Skelton Show."

In the biography, you would need to type
a href="http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=XXXXXXX"Name / a

where XXXXXXX is the GRid number of the memorial you want to link. The GRid is a unique id for each memorial and as such is the only thing within the entire URL that must be included. The "Name" is what will show up on the screen as a link.

You will need to remove the space between and a at the beginning as well as the space between the and / at the end. The spaces were added here to actually show you the code.

You can also use "Add relationship links" on the memorial page. You can add the links to father, mother, and multiple spouses. Adding this information will automatically post the reverse information to the linked memorial as well.
